Bought some steak to make a steak salad tomorrow night for tea. Got some rocket, red onion, pepper, some nice croutons.

Stuck for the dressing though.

Any BCFers got a recipe for a nice dressing that will go??

The blood and juices that leaked from the steak as you waved it at the gas flame. [/thread]

Edit: and throw all that rabbit food in the bin too ya bloody ginger.

Splash of white wine vinegar, worcester sauce for a kick and good olive oil.

Excellent stuff, great minds think alike.

However, if you are feeling lazy why not just go down to tescos. Their Honey and Mustard dressing is excellent as is their balsamic vinegar.

Not a fan of sweet dressings. The sugar is just to counter a tiny bit of the bitterness from the vinegar.

Also seems to taste 10x better making a tiny amount fresh each time.

I favour a simple dressing.

On last nights salad I used a good few glugs of cold pressed rapeseed oil, a squeeze of lemon juice and a pinch of seasalt. Just applied straight over the top of the salad.

Beefsteak tomatos are in season and particularly nice just now. If I was using them, I'd do them seperately with finely sliced white onion and chopped fresh basil in oil and lemon juice.

Get a super hot pan, not a non stick as those don't get hot enough.

Throw on steak 15 seconds later turn it over, sear the edges.

Eat....

15 seconds is pretty well done....

half and half butter and stilton, melted in a pan until you've got a nice thick sauce. Add some chopped mushrooms if you must.

Also, ditch the salad - the cow ate plenty of that before it got to you.

Cheers for the response fellow BCFers.

Agree I should MTFU and have chips and more steak, however, with it being nice hot weather, I just fancy a flouncy salad!

Ill give some of the above a try.

Cheers all.

Well after all that, I had it with chips!

The salad had gone off and I had no tomatoes!

Cooked the steak in a hot pan, added a big lump of butter, let it rest, the poured said butter and steak juices on top of everything.

Top grub.

Best way. My dressing is best for just lettuce, onion, tomatoes etc.

The only thing that should accompany a steak is more steak.
