From what I can gather no bikers were involved, thankfully.
A lot of bikers live over the island and use their bikes everyday, because before the new bridge was built the traffic would back up, so you could filter through to the front when the Kingsferry bridge opens, I still use the old bridge, because of some go for it roads, now little used.

At least one was, I was reading about someone who came off his motorbike and broke some ribs in that crash.

According to any tv news agency reporting on this last night the involvement of motorcycles was significantly mentioned. So where did you get your info from? Smile

UPDATE: FEW, SOME, OR NO BIKERS MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE BEEN INJURED.

130 vehicles and 35 hospitalised. Statistically there should be 1.3 bikers involved (1% of traffic), hogging 7 casualty beds (20% of KSIs).

Oh no!

Because people can't drive to the conditions we should put a limit on everything to look after people ... how about make people learn how to drive responsibly?!

I think we shouold have cameras to catch people driving without lights in fog.
Whistle

Mornings have been a bit foggy round my way this week and I'd say only about half of cars have any lights on at all. The silver / light grey ones are especially hard to spot. Don't know if that was a factor in the Sheppey pile up.

On the same theme. How about banning fat cunts from the dairy/confectionary Isle of the supermarket?

Just sayin'.

Read on article that quoted a witness saying that cars were travelling into the fog without any lights on and weren't slowing down.

Seems like some people just have no sense.

I'm just glad they were all driving according to the conditions. It was clear from the news that the fog was totally to blame for the pile up. Fog's a sneaky bastard - surrounding all those drivers without warning. Should be banned.

They should have had lights on, but on that road it wouldn't make much difference unless you wanted to change lanes.
Not really relevant to this accident which was entirely due to some drivers travelling too fast - how hard is it to notice it is foggy and slow down.

Most years you get one or two big fog related accidents as autumn gets underway.
It's as if people somehow forget how to drive in bad weather over the summer.

Well the funny thing is... Some bint said she seen some chap waving his arms as he was walking in the opposite direction so she decided to slow down...
Maybe it was that 'invisible fog' must be similar to that 'Black Ice'. Which is the historical excuse for driving to fast in 'freezing' conditions. Shocked

For sure because motorcyclists were 'highlighted' as being involved (though not KSI) we will have further restrictions put on our activity. Sad

The only action that needs taking is for everyone with front end damage on their vehicle to be prosecuted for careless driving.

And if you were shunted from behind into something?

Lights are pretty much useless in fog, you're more blinded than without them (thought that was commonly known).

There's a big difference if you are waiting to shoot out of a junction.
A silvery car with no lights or sidelights can't be seen in front of one with headlights on behind.
They give you an extra second or two.

Then offer that as a defence.

130 vehicles were involved. Not all of them crashed. Many of those who did were careless. Let a court decide, on a case by case basis.

Perhaps the suggested matrix sign should read "slow down if you can't read this"?
