I didn't fancy riding for 18 miles like that, but to fair, I didn't think it would take them two hours to get there!

How old is your bike?

I was waiting a week and half for the throttle cables for my 1990 FZ, ordered from a big well-known bike shop in Bristol (no name-no pack drill) before I got annoyed and rang them, only to be told that they were no longer available.

Quite why they couldn't have told me (they insisted on frame number etc to make sure they got the right ones) when I ordered is beyond me.

What was taking the piss was ringing my other half about an hour later to tell her that they were unavailable.

I already knew that, they told me when I rang to ask where the fuck they were...

I had the pull cable snap on my FJ1200. I turned the tick over up to get me off the A13 then because I couldn't undo one of the housing screws I swopped the push cable over at one end. This gave me a back to front twisting throttle.

I did the 50 miles home, everything went well except during upward gear changes when I would forget and 30 years of habit made me shut the throttle before changing up (rev the bollocks out of it).

I started carrying a better cross head screwdriver after that, the one on the bike was the reason I couldn't just swap both ends of the cable.
