They dont fit . You could use a voltage doubler . You need to change the whole coil plate , coil and flywheel assembly .
Be care full of chinese parts although you might find a scrapped engine with a complete modern cdi /genny on it thats a straight bolt on , check out pit bike parts shops and the net for size...coil type....fitting points etc .
A brazil type 2 conversion should work if the type 1 crank end shaft is the same diameter as the type 2 . the casings etc are the same .
On the whole though it may be worth doing the modern route because the earlier type 2 12 volt conversions use contact breakers .
Thens there the question of switchgear . The different types ...generally ac alternator or seperate wired coil types are wired different so as well as the loom you may need to change switch gear . Plus points are better lighting and a (possibility?) to fit an chinese/later starter motor outside casing ?)
Another route is to fit a special voltage doubler /or quadrupuller , inside the headlamp if you want to keep the old type 1 spec purist.
if I had a restored one and wanted authenticity I'd fit a voltage doubler so it was safe to ride (and file the brake shoes once a month to compete with V brakes on mountain bikes ) . ____________________ nearly a normal tax paying tosser.......with ferrileness suzi100,cg125,cb125scb100n,cb175,cd100,cj250t,kh250,c15,125 bantam, super 6,rickman gs750,xt500,250rs,dt175,lifan125,dolomite1850,metro,Morris220ld,morrisfg,leyland princess, range rover, corsa,vw camper .now struggling with legs.
