It does sound like a battery problem. If you can jump from a car battery this will point you in the right direction.

If it does not start from a known good battery, then you can look towards the starter solenoid.Quite often you can bridge the large connectors with a metal bar and see if the engine turns over better.

These people https://www.tayna.co.uk/Motorcycle-Batteries-C7.html sorted a battery for me very quickly.I had it on my bike the next day after the initial order.

Possibly battery but my CLR125 turned over and fired ok at 12.2v, Hell my R1 had 12.4v in Spain and fired up fine.

XR125s have a habit of the starters getting all dirty inside and the brushes wearing down. bikertomm had the same, I went through a few starters too.

Grab the starter motor off the side, switch it and see how that goes.

hi alice,

didnt like the chinese avatar's comment.........not needed........and not clever........

anyways alice you have a spare starter motor on the spare engine, see cmsnl for the exploded views as they could help you, your dad would find them interesting, i'm sure.........we never had this sort of info freely given when we where young did we.........

so remove the spare starter, strip, clean, service and paint, understand how it works and gain a ready to fit working unit..........you will learn lots........all usefustuff for the next one.

enjoy.......
