As per the title really. Been riding my Daytona for 18 months now, I love it but I'm hankering after something different. 848s are currently too expensive, a GSXR750 would make the most sense but they don't give me the horn really.

I've been on couple thous; I liked the RSVR and RC8, loved the RR8 Blade - its making the most sense at the moment as it was stupidly easy to ride fast and comfy-ish.

Intended use will be a 30 mile each way commute (with motorway or fun options), occasional client visits, three or four trackdays per year, occasional weekend hooning and maybe a mini tour of some sort. Budget is around £5k, my bike should fetch around £4.something stock and I have extra bits to sell as well as an NC29 frame and engine that need to go.

Thoughts on what else I should consider? Or about why I shouldn't get a Blade?

I still stick with the GSXR1000 K5/6. I've ridden an 05 Blade and it was fairly dull.

That bike + a bit of money on some tasty mods, pc3 and exhaust would see you sorted with change!

if you fancied a twin, SP2 looks fucking stonking as does the RSVR! Never ridden either but have ridden an 08 Tuono. Was er... Exciting.

RSV Factory, man. You know you want it Thumbs Up

But on second thought if it's for commuting (including winter time) then maybe better to buy something Japanese rather than Italian Thinking

I want most things at the moment to be honest. I'm like a kid in a candy shop.

848s will drop into your price range when the new 899 comes out.

I haven't ridden one, but the fugly ABS blades would be just in budget and should make the ultimate boring 'do it all for you but still fast' bike at this price point.

ZX10 if you want an involving ride, I'd have thought Smile.

Could get an 07-08 R1 just about in that budget, what im thinking i might go for when i get bored of the zx6. Bit punchy on the road depending how you ride though perhaps.

It doesn't really appeal to be honest, plus group test comparisons of that era are usually unfavourable. My mate has a K7 GSXR1000, I think it'll be between that and the blade so ill blag a ride on that I think.

I wouldn't recommend an RSV for everyday commuting and definitely not 30 miles each way. I'm 6'1" and mine kills my wrists after about 30 mins and my legs/shoulders after an hour.

But for sheer pleasure with the baffles out, it probably can't be beaten... Wink

Sit more back from the tank and lock the tank with your knees, use your back muscles, don't push the bars with your hands. Thumbs Up

05/6 ZX10R, proper mans bike, mad engine in a 600 like chassis, quite fancy one. Most have low mileages and haven't been thrashed because 1 they frightened people to death, 2 they couldn't.
Still stands up as a serious bike.

04/05 ZX10R yes. The 06/07 is the model with the wheelbarrow cans, and widely regarded as a bit crap (heavier crank, steering damper, and suspension that sits it lower at the back).. For £5k you should get an 08 mode (zx10r)l, which is a bit of a nutter again. All of that said, the Blade and GSXR of the same year (2008/2009) are widely regarded as superior machines.

Out of the SP1/2 I'd go for the SP2 as it's better and more collectible. RC8 if you can get one in budget?

That said, looking at your post again... aside from mini tours the Superduke 990 ticks most of those.

Fucking ballistic little bike.

I had a 60 plate blade, if it's anything like that you won't go far wrong.
