Good Afternoon Noble Users of the BCF

I have done one the most stupid things so far in my life.

I have got booked for 55 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath. The limit is 40.

Already have 3 points on the license as it's on the restriction period, the limit is 6.
I'm going to court next month.

Que. Next loss.

As I was being detained, it seems my motorcycle has been stolen.
Or towed.. but all the responsible body's I have called recommend calling the next.

So.. Let me have it.

Worst case, 6 months in prison

AND

£5000 fine

AND

1 year ban.

Insurance will add between 2-4 additional zeros to your premium.

You may have significant problems being allowed to work outside the EU. As DD shows up as a criminal conviction, work visas for tend to check these things for 1st world countries.

Specifically USA you can't use the visa waiver program either.

over 6 points is a ban as far as I am aware, so you can get six points and not get banned until you get 7+.

Obligatory ban of 12 months minimum I believe.

Maybe points as well so you are looking at revocation & retest.

My Dad got a 2 year ban, no points, a £350 fine and 200 hrs com. service for being 3 times over the limit. He returned to driving about 3 years later and his insurance premiums were the same as a 20 something year old with no NCB.

Worst thing about this is that it is a criminal conviction, you will need to declare it on nearly any kind of form you'll encounter for the next 5 years.

Maybe some practical joker friend spiked your pint of lager shandy with a shot of vodka and would be willing to testify to it in court? Thinking

Why do people think that having your licence revoked and a ban are the same thing? Rolling Eyes

If you get 6 points then your licence is revoked. (not 7 points). You are not banned as you can retake your test as quickly as you can get a new provisional. (and book/pass the theory & practical tests).

There may be a ban involved due to the drink driving offence though.

Perverting the course of justice results in mandatory prison time.

Turn up smart, plead guilty and act humble. Oh yes and you've already sold that dreadfully unsafe motorcycle, haven't you?

If you're lucky you'll get 12 months ban no points and a fine.

Or you're unlucky you can get 12 months+ ban, enough points for a revocation, fine and whatever other shit they want you to do.

Prepare your anus.

6-12 month ban and a fine, about the £400 mark. Have to do an extended test to get your licence back. Not the end of the world, you just become a Bus Stop Wanker and your premium will double for the next 3-5 years.

Why drink and drive/ride????

No point speculating. There's no consistency when it comes to court.

You've put yourself in this position so no sympathy.

You could try claim exceptional hardship to keep the license, something like ''its too far to the pub without my bike''

I physically can't, I couldn't risk my licence, but I've known people to have a few and ride with no harm done. Shit, I rode with no helmet the other day Laughing

Not sticking up for the OP but it could have been the next day and not immediately after a session down the local.

I'd hazard a guess quite a number of people on here have thought fucking hell I feel a bit rough and jumped on the bike without giving a second thought to how far over the limit they are after a session the night before.

Friend got done a few years ago, got a 800 quid fine and banned for a year. He did a drink driving course that was offered and then was allowed to have his licence back from 9 months.

Still doesn't drive, insurance is too much. I believe it stays for 11 years not 5.

It stays on your counterpart but you have no obligation to declare it after 5 (7 if you get up to 6 months prison).

It will, however, show up on CRB checks.

And it's a mandatory 12 month ban - no question. You may be able to reduce it to 9 months with the drink driving rehabilitation course, if you're offered it.

It's all here

here is a shockingly true story for You regarding drink driving,
I had a mate who is a serving copper ,he laughingly told me a few years ago,him and his mate breathalised each other to see who had the lowest reading as they had both been out on the piss the night before,
My mate had to let the other guy drive as his reading was the lower of the two but both were over the limit !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Sad but true story.

The OP will be totally farked if they ever decide to apply for a job involving driving a company vehicle.
Most employers won`t consider anyone with a DR DR10 endorsement on their licence.
As for insurance, if the OP is under 25, they may as well forget about riding/driving unless they or their parents can afford HUGE four figure premiums

Paddy,

Your choice to ride without a helmet, that's at your own risk. You have a smash you'll be worst off.

James,

I did think of that but I take any person drinking and riding/driving even the morning after as a dickhead who is out to kill my kids. If more people thought that way there would be far safer roads for our use.

I could never live with myself if I had an accident involving someone's offspring but there are too many that think it'll be alright.

Anyone caught in my opinion should be done with attempted GBH, man slaughter. Only that way will dickheads think twice and get the message although theirs always the exceptions who couldn't give a fuck.
