Daily Mail article but who cares, the pictures are interesting Thumbs Up

Kowloon is a place I've only really heard the name of - I'm a bit too young to know much about it - so... yeah... interesting Thumbs Up

It doesn't look like that now.
But living is still quite cramped. The hostel I stayed in, on Nathan Road, Kowloon was a really narrow complex. I was a bit surprised when I first went in. The whole of HK is crammed into and onto a few islands. But the people all seem to live in relative harmony together.

Sorry yeah I should have added - I think the photos are from the times before government intervention. When it was all made bric-a-brac without a single architect and no structural health and safety measures.

The fact that they've managed to keep the place intact for so long is pretty impressive by itself.

P.S Black Ops made it look a lot bigger Confused

Very interesting looking place.

Expect many more places just like it in times ahead of us, they will be refuges for those who won't conform to a slave system.

Reality really does move faster than science fiction.

The "Kumite" in the J.C. Van Damme film "Blood Sport" took place in there if my memory serves correctly. It was obviously a studio set but it showed them walking through the walled city to get to it.

Yeah it sounds like a pretty cool place. Got knoced down around 1990.

It was featured heavily in this game (which is set in the 80's), although not sure how well it was represented:

There is also a documentary about it on youtube somewhere (german w/ english subs I think)
EDIT: found it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lby9P3ms11w

Interesting place.

Im wondering how it was built, was it planned to be that big, or did it get bigger?

Similarly did it have a pretty amazing sewer system or did people just shit on those below them? Shocked
