Posted: 17:20 - 23 Sep 2013 Post subject: What size rain cover to buy? |
 |
|
I have a 2008 zx6r which lives outside so I'm looking to get a good rain cover to protect it now the weather is getting a bit shittier. I'm looking at the "GTmoto Premium Motorcycle Rain Cover" from halfords. The material seems good but I'm not sure what size to buy, medium or large. Does anyone have any experience of these covers and can help? Halfords packaging recommends medium but the dimensions given seem fairly small for my bike.
Thanks for any help |

Better off having it a bit tight.
My cover is loose as it's a large and anywhere it smacking contact with the bike, the rain seeps through and makes it wet.
Better tight |

I have a large on an 05 ZX6R [nearly identical sizing] for indoor covering, fits nicely and easy to get on and off, i think for outside if its an open area you might want a medium though unless you tie it very tightly underneath as theres a lot of slack around the lower edges and if the wind got under it i'd think it might cause problems.
Depends a bit on brand as well also so it can be a bit his and miss to be honest, most places will let you return them if you keep them clean and unmarked, just ask before you buy |

I bought this un from Halfrauds in Medium. It just about fit over my CB500 but I couldn't completely cover the SV or Fazer with it. It was more used to keep it clean in the garage than to protect it from the elements anyway... unfortunately, they don't give the dimensions for it like they do for the GT Moto one. ____________________ Previous: 2002 Honda CB500 (sold), 2007 Suzuki SV650SK6 (crashed), 2005 Yamaha FZ6 Fazer (sold). Fits over the FZ6 very nicely, exactly the right size, seems decent quality too ____________________ Current: Honda City Fly CLR125 2003 Honda CB600F Hornet 2008 Yamaha FZ6 S2 + 1991 Kawasaki GPZ500

Thanks for your replies. I was looking at both the r&g superbike cover and the oxford stormex too. My bike lives outside all year so maybe I'll take the plunge and order a stormex. |
