So we are looking at getting a Tom Tom
....well OH is as he likes the idea ....personally I dont give a monkies lol
He is looking at a Tom Tom EU rider as opposed to an Urban rider as the EU one has a 'Winding Roads allows you to select the route with the most curves for the ultimate adrenaline rush' feature....
So any opinions ? The EU is out of stock at Halfords except daaan saaf and we arent going there for one.
Also anyone have a clue as where we can pick one up that might have shelf stock ? As he watns one tomorrow before a trip uo to Yorkshire |

ahh cool thanks
Though he has just realised that the battery life on the Urban rider is half the quoted one on the EU ..... sigh
A bit of paper n a tank bag would do me and less hassle lol |

I have my Urban Rider hard wired to the bike, but on battery it lasts about 5 hours, you can extend this by altering the battery saving preferences.
Where in Yorkshire are you off to?

Do you mean these ones?

It's called a tomtom rider v5.
I have one, it pretty good, the winding routes does allow you to find some interesting roads. I don't use a headset or mobile with it, but I do use Tyre (google tyre for travel) software which is good for making route files. Also easy to share these with mates with the same unit as you can bluetooth the units together to share files very easily.
I would say buy it direct from tomtom as if anything goes wrong it'll be easier to return for replacement. Mine let in water and the screen went misty on the inside in the first month. Got the unit replaced. Now six months old and the usual thing of the mount failing is happening (typical of tomtom units) and my mate has the same problem with his. You wouldn't notice unless you have "switch off when power is lost" option selected as it only cuts the power very briefly now and again, but it gets progressively worse until the mount fails.
I had the previous tomtom rider and over five years got through 3 mounts, two of which I had to buy they failed more than 12 months from the last replacement. The mounts IIRC are around £40.
Other than the above they're good units, a shame they can't get the mount right. ____________________ Current bike: KTM SD1290GT
