There's loads of helpful bods on here. Get posting your questions.

The idea was to do my Cbt on a geared bike but they didn't have any available that day. Didn't really want to wait another week, so just teaching myself. Locked the back wheel once round a corner but apart from that so far so good and really fun. (apart from the weather)

Avoid using the brakes when cornering, keep the revs high and use the throttle to adjust speed
Generally when braking 75% of braking effort should be applied through the front brake and should be applied progressively, squeeze it don't snatch it.

I thought it was meant to be 75 to the back. That's what the instructor at Cbt said but this was for a moped.?

congrats, and, take it easy for a while. Take your time learning the gear changes, and I thought it was 75% rear brake too. Only use front for emergency/stopping quick. Easy to slide that narrow front tyre.

I hope you picked him up wrong, regardless of bike the majority of braking should be done with the front brake, that's where the weight goes when you brake, the only time where you want to use your rear break more is slow riding, most riders never use their rear break at all.

Yea what I've always thought, taking it easy still a little problem with gear choice at roundabouts, changing Down to soon locking up back wheel, But Overall so far so good

Completely and utterly wrong, if you're going to ride that way get private medical insurance, nhs food is crap, and you'll be eating it a lot.

You will end up as a statistic very soon, I suspect.
