|
|
Hey all
recently bought a Yammy R6 2001 in infamous BLUE
all seemed well however, today when riding it cut out on me it did this twice
checked fuel, leaks etc all ok, it would start providing i had the throttle pinned all the way back and it would idle at 2k RPM but really rough
after a while the revs shot up and then it idled perfectly and rode like normal
done this twice
crap in carbs? bad fuel? running too rich?
any help and previous experience would be awesome
thanks all |

Is it running hot?
Does the coolant bubble in the bottle?
If you can, take the tank off and check to see if its blowing exhaust gas out of the crankcase breather. ____________________ Suzuki GT250 x7------- Fazer 600------CB250RS------Aprilia Rally 70----- Bandit 600

Thing is, there are bad things about ALL bikes, luck of the draw.
I bet if you bought a VFR or CBR, the regulator would have went, Thundercat would be missing 2nd gear and an RS125 would be 20 secs away from its main bearing failing. It's just how it is buddy |

misscrabstick wrote: | I looked into this cracked bore thing a bit on the internet, I don't see that you have this issue, a wet liner type engine with a cracked liner/bore is going to display head gasket blow type symptoms such as coolant loss/boiling over, exhaust steam, coolant in the sump and a misfire, and would this occur on all 4 cylinders at the same time? no, you also indicate that your bike recovered from this issue after a short time and ran normally, I stick by what I first said, you have some sort of fuel issue. |
good call, the coolant doesn't boil over at all and zero steam/smoke from the exhaust, im hoping it is something really silly, but main Priority is to do a compression test, that way itll save me piss arsing around etc. if it comes back good then I can start investing time and money into it
will update! |

not sure when it was last serviced, but waned to find out if engine was ok before i started to order parts
saying that, I did notice that both air intake pipes going into the air box were disconnected for some reason,
another theory is at low speed the air wasnt getting in making the mixture too rich/flooding the engine?
Ive put them back on, let it get upto temp and checked the breather once more, still all clear
Im going to take it for a test ride when the traffic dies down and report back
thanks for all the advice and help so far |
