what a f****g joke

Quote:
Plans for a new conservatory have been declared a matter of national security - because the room is for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

The Queen has earmarked Anmer Hall in Norfolk as a family home for Prince William and Catherine.

The Borough Council of King's Lynn and West Norfolk had already granted permission for a new garden room.

But a further request has been made to change the original plan and instead install a glazed roof.

The council said it had received Home Office guidance citing "national security".

The letter, according to the council, said it could not put the conservatory request in the public domain given "the nature of the planning application".

Oh and the bill is being footed by the taxpayers Evil or Very Mad

If a rock fell from space and wiped out the lot of them, how would the nation's security be worse off in any way? Thinking

and feeding money into the UK treasury
at a higher rate per head of population than the rest of the Uk

Where are you getting your figures from?

The Government Expenditure & Revenue Scotland 2011-12 seems to tell a different story.

Eh, it comes down to the per-capita vs geographic debate. I had to do some research on this a while back.

Assuming geographic they're golden. There's still a deficit but the rest of the UK are spending more proportionally.

Quote:
When an illustrative geographical share of North Sea revenue is included, total Scottish public sector revenue was estimated at £56.9 billion (9.9% of UK total public sector revenue).

Quote:
In 2011-12, total public sector expenditure for the benefit of Scotland by the UK Government, Scottish Government and all other parts of the public sector, plus a per capita share of UK debt interest payments, was £64.5 billion. This is equivalent to 9.3% of total UK public sector expenditure.

Of course, per-capita they're in the hole. And there's virtually zero chance the rest of the UK would give them the North Sea.

It wouldn't, its a fear breeds fear thing. They don't want them wiped out, because that will increase fear of terrorism.

The fact that they use this sort of thing as an excuse to keep removing our civil liberties tells me that this is all for show anyway.

All depending on the North Sea Oil, which:
-Won't last forever
-Isn't entirely owned by Scotland
-Is dropping in price, and has been since about 1985
