Hi. I recently bought a Kawasaki z250 a2 1980 and am having a right chew on trying to find parts to repair the clutch. Am trying to source a push rod, ball ramp plate, ball assembly and release lever. Also a reliable supplier of clutch plates as the one i did find was a bag of nails and looks like they knew nothing about bikes(even less than me). I am old fashioned and like to speak to suppliers as this automated purchasing via the www usually ends up in frustration and broken technology. So if there are any Kawasaki gurus or a z250 magpie out there that happens to know of or has said items please please please help this useless old duffer out. Kind regards and here is hoping 😀

Wemoto list geko and ebc friction plates for them. I know it's online but you managed to use the forum and online is in many ways better because if they are wrong, you have an automatic right to return them within 14 days.

The fact is, all the old breakers now do their business almost exclusively through online auction sites. You're going to need to move with the times. Trade suppliers via ebay are also required to accept returns.

There are also a few Z250 clutch covers on ebay which should have the release mechanism in. Not terribly expensive either

Regarding the push rod, just get a bit of decent quality silver steel the correct diameter, cut it to length then file and harden the ends.

I wonder if a GPz305 clutch would fit (in its entirety)? They were based on the skorpion.

Thanks bovine. I might have sourced a couple of items courtesy of good old fashioned microfish and cross referenced them against the part numbers in the Kawasaki parts list. I noticed the old service manual also covers the k305 so I may get some luck there too. Regarding the push rod, I had thought of that as the last resort as they are rare as hens teeth. Thanks again for your help ( this reply took an age to compose ) Thumbs Up

Incidentally, you can phone likes of wemoto with a credit card number if you don't want to do the transaction online.

Get on Google.
Type in your bike's year, make, model (and any letters after the model number can 'sometimes' narrow the search. But the internet is polluted by idiots who miss direct your search to their shite page. Patience.. )

Type diagrams or parts or parts diagrams and combinations of those words and you will find that some considerate soul has published the drawings you need.
There are still good things on the internet.

Sometimes you can find a friendly ear who can direct you by contacting a dealer. They do not want some work but can be helpful too for free. Wink

Thank you very much for the said advice. I use Bing and the results generally lead me to ebay again. On a positive note though, I was in contact with a very nice west country gent who has a few engines in he is stripping down so that looks very promising Smile . Just got to see what he has after the bank holiday. Again thanks for the advice guys. I will try and post a picture of her once she is up and running
