Exclamation Exclamation Aprilia RS 125 FP 2006, Power Valve Solenoid PROBLEMS !!!! Exclamation Exclamation

My bike has lost all its power above 8000rpm, I am aware that it is a problem with the power valve system on the bike, i have fully cleaned and replaced the valve blade, i have cleaned, oiled and greased the valve cable and i have fully cleaned the solenoid it is not sticking and all round is in excellent condition...

i have noticed that when the bike is sitting idle and the power valve is closed, when i rev to 2000rpm / 2500rpm the solenoid pulls back a small amount and opens the valve blade half way, the valve blade seems to slowly slip closed again.. as if the solenoid does not have the grunt it should to hold the valve fully open...

could this be caused by a faulty battery although it seems to sit around 12 / 14 volt when on just ignition before start up ((from dash computer)) ,, and she starts first time,,

or is this a sign that i need a solenoid?

although i may just replace it for the hell of it lol Mr. Green Exclamation Exclamation Exclamation Exclamation

You won't. I had mine locked open. You lose a little down low power but it has full power above 8k then, guaranteed. No worries of it slipping down and mashing the piston either Thumbs Up

Remove it all, clean it, replace the cable that runs to the power valve.

cable mint, was replaced not long ago and fully cleaned on Saturday everything replaced and maintained regularly except the solenoid although cleaned and 100% rust and grime free, its never been replaced, and the rave brain/ecu/cdi what ever they call it lol is still stock ducati part..

i thinking the solenoid is just past its best before and loosing its touch in old age lol

F**K it will splash the cash for a new uprated solenoid, might as well get some other little bits to, as its free postage once you hit £100 lol im thinking something massive but cheap lmao

Hi,
yes, this could be a sign of f*cked battery.
have you checked the battery & charging circuit? with a multi-meter & NOT the lcd. (notoriously un-reliable)
check it with lights on & at 5500rpm, should be around 14v.
have you actually adjusted the cable at solenoid end as per wsm?
very little to go wrong with solenoid tbh & it being a 2000 bike, i wouldnt expect it to be totally f*cked.
take it off, clean it up & test it. DONT pin it open if you do any riding in traffic, it makes it useless below 9000rpm.
cheers,
GAZ

adjust cable !!!,,, oooops my bad lol,

think its fixed,, started it up and just on choke she revved up off the clock,, so much so that the rev counter jumped the cog lol got stuck at 4000 and above until i turned key 10 times lol she never done that before so im guessing that would be the power valve kicking in properly,,,

will post again once i have a chance to go for 100 and see how she gets on.
