Before you get the spam button out, this is actually bike related and if this woman can't be stopped, we could end up with two amazing roads being reduced to a 40/50mph road, increased speed cameras, increased police present.

It will more than likely cause serious issues for the three biker friendly pubs/cafes along this stretch, it will deter the tens of thousands of bikers from the area and local economy.

This woman councillor has tried to shut down a successful bike café bringing money to the area, to a building which has been previously boarded up for years.

This weekend the police were out in force specifically targeting bikes through the area and handing out fines for everything they could, hiding with a speed camera.

Sign it if you want, if you cba no worries,

https://www.change.org/en-GB/petitions/monmoutshire-county-council-for-cllr-christian-brown-and-cllr-sara-jones-to-either-step-down-from-their-role-or-to-leave-to-b4598-road-as-national-speed-limit-road-and-not-a-50mph-road

TL;DR - sign it if you want to help a bike café survive and to stop two roads from becoming 40mph limits, if you cba no worries

Get local MPs involved if it's a cause that you support. Online petitions are a waste of time.

Sadly it appears this councillor has our local MP in her pocket, so it will be a waste of time, she had him over to the area with a "think of the children" plea.

Hoping though with the three bike friendly cafes and some printed out petitions we can at least show the local area isn't being supported by her, she is already making up "facts" about the road

Apparently one of those most dangerous roads in Wales with 17 accidents in 6 years......or the A470 with 1300 accidents in 6 years Thinking

Yet this site listing B4598 accidents would appear to list a lot more than that and it only lists for 2011 Confused

Don't let that stop people signing though, support local business, biking and all that.

... Christian Brown, deputy chairman of Llanover community council, said the road was : “We have a major problem with road accidents on this road. It is one of the most dangerous in Wales.

He said Gwent Police recorded 17 road traffic collisions on the road between April 2005 and March 2011, two of which were fatal and six serious. and nine were classed as slight collisions.

He added: “It’s inevitable that there will be more deaths on that road. Ultimately if you want to cut deaths you’ve got to cut the speed limit.”

Doh! "Ultimately if you want to cut deaths you’ve got to cut the speed limit." Rolling Eyes Speed does not kill. I'll concede that the inappropriate use of speed can be dangerous. It's just that doesn't make a snappy by-line on an election poster does it.

Also I can't find if Gwent Police attributed any of the collisions to speed. So that's lies, damn lies and statistics once again.

Also " It is one of the most dangerous in Wales."...not according to this site - The most dangerous roads in Wales are revealed. Doesn't even get a mention or a marker. So that's just Christian Brown's opinion then!

I am going on her "facts" similar to her 600 residents, in 2 hamlets of about 60 houses.

There are 3 fatal accidents I know of on this road (one is prior to her stats) the other two involved people walking in the road, though one could have been a cyclist, as they are a frigging nuisance around here.

There is only one death on this road which speed was the biggest factor, that is the guy who got caught doing 156mph down said road, he hit a car in excess of 100mph. Woman looked in mirror, indicated to turn right, by the time she was turning bike was on her after coming around corner at a billion miles an hour.

You can't cut deaths if there is only 2 recorded deaths in 6 years, what's that 0.33 a year?

She has tried to stop the bike café opening up, she is by all accounts a very bad person and a lot of people want to get rid of her.

Apparently she has got 600 supporters from this hamlet of 4 houses

and 32 houses here.

She is councillor for this place
https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?saddr=Llanvair+Kilgeddin&daddr=A4042&hl=en&ll=51.769327,-2.987981&spn=0.018298,0.049052&sll=51.777294,-2.92614&sspn=0.073179,0.196209&geocode=FRvFFQMdyBPT_yldmCcWPNtxSDFUEMDbZ_Itzw%3BFTzkFQMdRk7S_w&t=h&gl=uk&mra=dme&mrsp=1&sz=13&z=15

You tell me where you get 600 signatures from those three hamlets.

I want to do it to at least try and save one of the great biking roads of Wales and to stop a councillor with a personal agenda and to make her realise she works for me, not herself.

Urgh this really is the way the country's going to end up.

Typical 'I'm a women I'm a mumsie let's make everything kitten friendly yaaaay' attitude.

She'd be a better pornstar than councillor Thumbs Up

Google tells me Sara Jones is councillor for Llanover (another pic on that link), which google also tells me is this bit (google map link).

So well south of the actual road, it's not even in Llanover. So not really her local parish then. Not really her local people. So IMHO does come across as a bizzy-body with a personal agenda.
