I'm looking to beef up my bike security.
I'm thinking of a 1.5m chain.

Is a 1.5m Almax Series III light enough to carry with you? Or would I probably end up leaving it at home due to the weight?

The main reason I ask is that if its too heavy to take with me I may as well get the IV for locking it up at home etc.

I carry a 1.5m Series IV in my tail pack. Don't even notice it. Lighter than a pillion.

I think I would have been better off buying the 2m version though, so I'd recommend that instead; it can be a little tight/impossible trying to wrap up a secure part of my bike and street furniture.

I think I got a 1.5m IV and a 2m III - the III goes in my topbox and I take it to work. It's heavy to handle but not too bad. A 1.5 m III should be no trouble.

I carry a 2m Almax IV in a pack strapped to pillion seat. Strap it down properly and I don't notice it is there. Unless you are on a 50cc or a 125cc carrying a decent chain is easy, I can't see how so many fannies struggle with it on bigger bikes. How much stuff can you fit on a bike for a fortnight touring? I have both.
III almax is light enough to carry around, try getting the 2.0 III chain.
IV almax is a beast and is to heavy to carry around.

Weight should not be relevant.

Carrying a chain in a backpack or similar is pretty much moronic.

I ride around wearing a shirt and blazer half the time so don't take that as a safety nazi comment. It's basically equivalent to wearing an anti back protector.

Tailpack on my CG125 and you couldn't notice a chain at all.
