first off, sorry to post this in general, but i'm figureing not many people will have had one so the more people read this the better Smile

I was wondering, how solid is an older (1000/1100) engine? i mean generally, obviously it depends partially how well its been looked after e.t.c.
Has anyone here owned one? or any sort of wing? (and yes i can imagine they are not all that popular here Very Happy ).
Were there any comon faults with them? (appart from being lardy).

My old man has a gl1000.

Generally they are very good engines but his did snap a crank a few years back and did have a problem with overheating but I think it was because the bike had been abused before he got it.

Things to look out for on them are rust on the pipes and rust on the mudguards.

Apart from that they tend to be quite good bikes for long distance riding.

I came across this link about old GoldWings a while back while looking for info about the PanEuropean. You may want to take a look.

and this one from the same site
