bikes a couple months old. previous owner had it siting about in garage.

I put new petrol and 2 stroke in her. Now the bike will start then cut off after few seconds.

The spark is wet with fuel after starting it up thus causing it to stop starting.

I think where i went wrong was running it completely dry of petrol and leaving it in garage for week or two.

Im thinking the problem is the engine is running rich with 2 stroke and i cant get it running long enough to burn anything.

Is it possible to drain the fuel out of the engine?
I know i can drain the carb float but would it help as i dont think the 2stroke is flowing to the carb?

Also i would like to ask one of you 2 stroke experts if i could mix the 2 stroke manually instead of using the separate tank?

Cheers for helping me out i recently upgraded from my yamaha xt125x and am loving the extra speed :burnout:

Did you try turning it over with the plug out a few times just to purge it out a bit? Before replacing and starting. What about choke and throttle positions?

If you still have problems. Maybe a blocked jet.

i meant to say i bought it a couple months ago.

tried it with choke on and off.

i try not to fiddle with throttle just starting with electric motor been a couple times where shes started and i got to 6,500 revs then after 5-10 seconds constant revs it dies.

previous owner had it sitting in garage for 2 years, i ran it about 40 miles home and in 1st gear take off was dead slow only way to really get her going was rape the clutch. also some spluttering at top end so it seems more or less like running rich symptoms.

I'm about to take the spark out and running the electric motor to purge the oil now i will let you know how it goes.

My RS125 was standing for about 8 months. They don't like this, the main bearings and seals perish and degrade. Expect to purchase a full bottom and top end rebuild kit. ~ £500 Thumbs Up

I tried running her without spark plugs in to purge the gearbox oil from the fuel? done this for about a minute then cleaned the spark and put it back in.

Same problem engine starts for 2 seconds then cuts off. with smoke coming out the exhaust and also a black substance

When i bought the bike the guy let me take it a test run when i came back and let the bike sit oil was dripping from somewhere onto the middle of the power pipe the guy said that he just refilled the gearbox oil and must have filled it up instead of putting the recommended amount in and the oil was coming from an overflow hose!?

I thought if the bike was getting to run for a few second that would rule out the engine/pistons being seized?

If the bearings seals have gone does that mean a rebuild kit(gaskets and seals) and new seals i don't see the bearings being damaged.

Full rebuild.

Mine ran fine for ~2 weeks then everything broke down. This is what happened, bear in mind it ran bang on. My bearings were dead after that and it was sat for 8 months.

Yours will follow suit soon. Rebuild. You also wouldn't strip and replace the seals and not the bearings... that would be really really dumb Laughing

SlimC I tried what you said again i think initially i was to feared to keep the electric motor running for a ;long time as i started hearing squeeking but i got over this fear thinking it was just no lube around the electric motor mechanism.

And thank fuck the bike eventually picked up the revs after a good going using ur method.

And is now running beautifully i would like to know if it is normal for the bike to take off slow in first gear? even raping the clutch with revs? as if theres not a lot of compression and would be stressful to start on a hill

It needs a rebuild.

But you need around 5000rpm to pull away nicely... So best let it get to 60 degrees before pulling away at silly speeds.

Either way. It's close to having lots of money thrown at it...
