The 1st BCF Moto GP Races...

Hello! Seems we have a load of interested people!!

The first race, I was thinking about on this Friday at 8:30 PM, gives people plenty of time to download and install.

You need to open up Moto GP2 (make sure all firewalls etc are off otherwise it won't work!) select multiplayer game, then connect to IP and the host we are using is:

81.96.18.63

So Fri 8:30 connect to that IP, we'll be there and race will start around 8:45! If you get in later than that just stick around in the room until the race is over, we'll only do 5 laps of each circuit in the championship.

We might have a slight problem, just tried a game with NS-Keith and it's laggy as fook. I don;t know what it will be like on Friday but is there anyone that can host as a back up in case mines too laggy? You can't have a router and must have a very decent connection.

Just in case mine is too laggy...

I think swaffs' FTP is down or has too many users, I'm not sure but think he'll let us know whats happening in a bit

You could buy the game, or get emule and get it from there or something. Just other options thats all...

Tomorrow after work I will haul ass into town fighting the rush hour traffic, to get to the game shops that close 5:30/6:00 and try and find it.
And I will try P2P downloads, but most of them bodge up halfway through, or are for PS2/XBOX things and stuff....

Thanks very much to Fazed, we may well be getting a dedicated server to host the game, fingers crossed and thanks fazed, I'll remember not to wheely into you on the corners when racing, instead i'll aim for everyone else

I know yams ride's rossi's bike and Kris rides Hopkin's bike, a clever way to get lots of experience credits without playing the game. Maybe as time goes on and you play the carreer game on single player your rider will gain enough experience to race in multiplayer - i'm using my own rider and not one of the ones that came with the game. Anyone else?

Edit: It's a lot of bloody work, the challenges are doing my head in!!!

Those FTP programs, are wank and hard to use. Im gonna get a copy of somone here...

That means i wont be able to play Fri, becasue ill get the game on Sunday. O well, it'll give me time to practice, then i can kain ya!!!

Can someone PM me with the link to where I can download it. And if it's FTP instructions on what to do as I've never used FTP and not had good experiences with it (it never works).

Tis easy, all you do is download an ftp program say smart FTp (www.smartftp.com)

then once downloaded and installed open the program up. At the top you will see it asks you for address username and password type the details you have been given into the boxes

then the ftp program will attempt to make a connection with the server

once the connection is made it will list folders...goto the correct folder..on my server its first games then motogp2 right click the motogp2 folder and select download to default folder..or to wherever u wanna download it and voila

Quality, thanks. I'm using DAP which has a built in FTP thing. First time it's ever worked. I'm only downloading at 25k, should be getting 5 times more than that. Still grateful though, oh yes.

Unfortunately I had it switched off overnight. It was back on at 06:30.
I have a 3MBit (360/30) connection if you can't get a dedicated server, but it might be a little better, than a standard broadband.

swaffs, are you downloading from him now? If so, what speed are you downloading at? I'm on 1mb Cable and downloading at just under 24KB.

Enrique, that's probably the best your gonna get.
Your broadband may allow you to download at 120kps but it depends on the speed of the source.
If you were hosting an ftp, we would only be able to get it at 25kps because the upload speeds are throttled. Now imagine 10 people are trying to get that file at the same time through that same bandwith = 2.5 kps

If your getting 25 your prob taking most of it, don't tell anyone else

With getright, or other download managers, you can throttle your maximum download speed if you wanted, lol.
I started last night at about 2am, was only getting 6kb/s because other people were downloading, was set to take a nice smooth 39 hours, lol.
Haven't checked it today as I was running late for work, but I'm guessing it is done/got faster over night.

What connection will everyone be using?
(Hopefully everyone has broadband)

I've got 150k broadband but i can still play all multi player games fine.

Yams its not the download speed that really counts its the upload speed

Blueyonder broadband, DL-750 UPLOAD-128k not good for a game
BT broadband 512k-Upload 256k
Even the 2mb3mb services has a mere 256k/512k depends on ISP


Either someone has a dedicated server or the BCF Listen server will have to be restricted to a max of 8 ppl

either that or fazed lends us one of his gaming servers

I can put it up for download on the server here at work if someone can send me the link to download it from in the first place.

Might be able to set a server up here at work if anyone can explain how to setup a dedicated server and if it will run on win2k.
