Buy a squire 16mm ex-caliber which is the exact same chain (just cut the red ends off stopping you to use the long links to shorten the chain) and an abloy 362 off ebay and you've got a lot better set up for a lower price.

Seriously just received the chain and lock in the post and the chain looks crazy similar to my mates almax and neither lock will be broken except the abloy will go around thinner/bigger chains and be just as secure. Can't be pick either.

Chain is advertised as bolt cropper and hack saw resistant and is thatcham approved. Welds are very good too.

Just thought I'd post this as I'm so glad I went for this combo and not one a lot reccomened due to the almax 'chain test' video. Think they forgot to mention there was no chains the same diameter as theirs there Rolling Eyes

Thumbs Up

It's not much cheaper; most of the savings come down to how much cheaper you get the Abloy 362 vs the new Squire SS65CS that Almax sell you. Looks to be harder to get a good price on a "buy it now" Abloy than the incremental cost of the SS65CS off Almax.

I just ordered a replacement Almax 3 + squire lock this morning, and I'm not kicking myself just yet.

If you are patient you should pick up Abloy 362 padlocks from ebay posted for between £35 and £45 each, I have four. Thumbs Up Much better than the £160 odd quid each we paid for two at work. Laughing

Well the chain is £20 less and the abloy is easy to get for £55 (buy it now) and auction £35-£45 as above said. You can get a squire 2.5M chain for the same price as the 2M almax and the one I ordered come the next day aswell as two shipped for the price of one being shipped, as they offer combined shipping.

With the squire/abloy set up you're potentially getting £300 worth of gear (almax/ abloy from supplier) for £140 vs £175 for practically the same chain but a worse lock, worth half the cost of the abloy.

FYI the reason in the UK a lot of new abloys are sold for a fraction of their retail price is because our army buy them by the thousands for their shipping containers. The guy I bought them of said he never realised how much they were worth and his mates in the army were taking home box's of them. In the ole USA people pay quite a bit more, even used. Look carefully/ long enough and you can swipe one for £30 Thumbs Up
