Was knocked up at 5am on Monday morning and told the wonderful news. Luckily it was also accompanied by the good news that the thieving bastards didn't manage to get that far.

The ecilop were doing their job properly that morning and while actually patroling they saw a bike with the ignition light on and went to have a butchers. It seems that Raffles excellent bodge job of wiring the starter in an unusual place may have confused them long enough for them to give it up as a bad job.

They went to great lengths to remove the side gate completely and cut the chain. They even managed to silently get the bike round a very tight bend from the back of the house, past next doors dog and my own german shepherd without disturbing them just to be thwarted three streets away.

It was obviously a planned theft which makes it stranger that they didn't have a van or something waiting and instead opted to cut the ignition wires and try hot wiring it.

The officers gave me a lift round to it and even offered to help me push it back down home which I thought was pretty nice of them.

Just goes to show, I had actually gone to sleep cursing the police that night as I'm pretty sure one of their number on double bubble caught me going a tad over the limit in the van on my way home from work.

The only damage I can see is the cut wiring and they seem to have scratched the car while fecking around with the gate.

So a huge ner ner fuck you thieving pikey scum and thank you West Yorkshire police and Raffles.

Happy for you, it is not as satisfying as seeing the robber get shot like in Brazil but you should be pleased. May I enquire as to what type of chain was cut for researching purposes?

It was only a zzr600 so complete lack of ambition by the scrotes there Very Happy

As for the chain I opted for a length or random thick chain I had knocking around in the shed rather than the specific bike chain I have because it was a lot longer and allowed me to get it around a metal pipe without blocking the pathway up. I figured with two dogs on guard, very restricted access and movement, my not sleeping till 4am and no line of sight to the bike I'd be safe enough. Got that one massively wrong Very Happy

Come to think of it there are scooters/ mopeds parked in either side garden to mine completely unchained, one is even slap bang in the middle of the garden, yet they went through all that to get mine and gave up on it so easily :S

I keep thinking of wiring the battery to the bars as a nasty shock to any potential thief. But I'd probably only zap myself with it, or a small, curious child who wants to play with it in a car park.

Very Happy That may be the only effective way of keeping anything these days.

One thought I'm not liking is that maybe my dogs actually getting too old for the guarding job. While she's a family pet her role has always primarily been scare the shiz out of trespassers which she's always done with aplomb, to the extent that even the local pikeys won't call at the house to see if I want the driveway doing anymore.

The bikes will be headed to a friends lock up tonight until I can sort something scrote proof out Very Happy

It's my second zzr, so I do love them, but it's a big ole barge of a bike and certainly not what I'd expect them to swipe for jollies Laughing

I told you yesterday what you should do with your dog.
First you should give it some of this and then some of this.

Anyways I'd be fecked for going dogging without her. 'I'm just popping out to walk the dragon dear' simply wouldn't cut it Razz

I know a farmer that did something similar, quite a few pikeys in the area so he hooked up the electric fence power unit to the workshop door handle, 20,000 volts through the handle, 3 of his neighbours including those either side of him got robbed but not him, wonder why

If someone pinched one of my bikes I'd rather see them tangled up in it after a 70mph+ wreck...

Hmm. I wonder if it would be possible to wire in some explosive bolts to the head-stock/wheels. Hook it up to an old phone powered by the battery. Once you realise it is stolen, call the phone to explode the bolts, then turn the radio on and wait for the death report.

Or even better - submerged bomb in the fuel tank using the same principle. BOOM!

Lol - I guess you are right - although with my average electrical skillz i would probably accidentally blow myself up. Not really a problem for Terry Taliban though!

20,000 volts through the handle

1 of the handles on my garage door is metal, with a couple of bolts through the door from the inside holding the handle on, & a long time ago I wired a chunky red wire with a ring terminal on 1 end, connecting the ring terminal through 1 of the door bolts, and neatly routed it back into the depths of the garage. Next to where the cable/handle joined I fixed a sign stating "FATAL ELECTRIC SHOCK WARNING ........please remember to switch off the power before touching the handle". A couple of days later I`m doing some work outside and the garage door was ajar with the red cable and sign in view, when a couple of local 10-12 year olds where killing time nearby, & noticed the sign. figuring out roughly what it meant one of them plucked up the courage to ask about the sign.
"is that real mister?" to which I replied " wanna grab hold of it and find out?" I guess he didn`t have the balls to find out ..........

Is it powered up?? .............. I`ll leave you lot to guess
