Hi guys was looking for some advice, i've got two bikes atm a honda ns125rl and a baotian bt49qt9 and neither of them are on the road atm, the baotian (yes is chinese) is in a mates garage atm and in a few pieces and he is going to put it back together at some point for me to then sell as i had bought the 125 and my ns i bought with the idea of doing it up and getting it road worthy and using it for work, however i've got a little one on the way and cant really afford to get them both fixed up and back on the road and I am getting bored of being a bus wanker as i also might be moving departments within work atm. now what i want to know is what are my chances of swapping them both for a running 125 that i can use for work or sell them but not sure as to how much i would get for them, or would i be best to sell the baotian and keep the ns and try to get it working?
any sugestions? (sorry for the essay) ____________________ currently rebuilding a Honda NS125RL selling a baotian bt49 qt-9 |

appologies im aweful when it comes to punctuation.
The baotian will be ready for an mot once its back together as what it failed on has been sorted since, I believe i have most of the tools to put it back together so i might give that a go.
I think the main thing the ns needs is the electrics looking at adn should be up and running after that.
The NS is on a k reg bought it from a garage about a year ago, done a top end rebuild and resprayed by rattle cans, got a new set of indicators to go with it, and have got a spare bottom end in reasonable nick and a fair few other parts to go with it including 2 looms a spare tank, 4 wheels 2 front 2 back, bearings, switches,
havent got the v5 for it yet but am applying for it tuesday as thats when i get paid.
I didnt think i would have much of a chance of swapping them both for one but worth an ask, you may be right i might just pop them on gumtree and see what offers i get,
Thanks, ____________________ currently rebuilding a Honda NS125RL selling a baotian bt49 qt-9 |

It does sound like your better off getting rid of both, instead of having a fixer upper. I've got no kids, and I struggle to get anything done project wise when I'm at work, so I can't imagine how hard it will be for you with family and childcare commitments etc.
I'd never buy the first bike, as I can't even pronounce the name and that is enough to put me off lol! But If your mate can get it assembled into one piece and hopefully to run, as a favour in exchange for some beer money, then that would be ideal for sticking up in the free ads as a cheap moped project. You really won't get much for a chinq 50cc, so don't spend even £50 on it unless that will get it back on the road again.
The NS is a classic 80's 2smoke 125, and has the same sort of appeal as other bikes like the TZR/RG125 etc. Someone will have a complete but non running project off you for up to say £200-250 maybe if it's got plenty of spares etc. Pop it on ebay as I've seen 125 trail bikes with no engine and in a right state fetch more than that as the more money than time folks spot them and want a bit of nostalgia etc.
I'd suggest that you do have good think about your transport situation and work/commuting, as up to a point being a bus wanker if it's a viable option will save you money over running a bike. I do at least 50% of all my regular journeys by bus or train these days, and if you look into a travel pass it might save you a few quid.
A nice reliable ready to ride tidy 125 like a CG is gonna set you back at least £700-800 for something you havn't got to do more than routine maintenance on, and then £100-200 insurance maybe, tax and fuel at about £12-13 a tank every 200miles. Oil change's every 1000miles etc. It all adds up, but it could still be viable if public transport is not suitable or doesn't take you where you need to go for work, providing you can find the up front costs. |
