Having just recounted when I nearly lost my head on the 'New Bikers' forum, I thought it would be interesting to find out when the members of this forum were the most scared.

As is traditional in these circumstances, I'll go first.

I had an RG125 (derestricted/not full power) and I came barrelling round a bend in mmmm town at mmmm speed. What I didn't realise was that there was an alleyway from a nearby school that crossed the road.

A young person (that I have no dount, judging by the speed that he as moving, was being bullied) came out of no-where out of one side and sprinted in front of me.

I went from full crank on one side to full crank on the other side. I'm pretty sure that I caught his coat as I went past. The speed that I was doing would have killed him, and probably me.

Anyway, at this point i was now pointing at a parked car. Managed to avoid that and then pulled up at the side of the road. once I's stopped, I rolled a fag and started to smoke it.

At this point I noticed the guy that 'was' washing his car on the other side of the road. He still had the rag in his hand above his head, dripping all over him.

He asked me how I missed him. I said 'I don't know'.

Little bastard didn't stop to thank me for saving his life...

Bike related, was a week ago tonight.

It was my nephews birthday and my sister was doing a family do of bowling and laser quest for him (he's 8). I live some 150 miles away.

I managed to get out of Uni early and flew over to west coast of Cumbria and surprised him. Had a great few hours, but got to 7.30pm and thought I best start heading off.

Was on the new to me ZX7 and hadn't realised just how poor the headlight really is as this was my first night riding it.
Leaving, it wasn't too bad in the town, but 2 mins out of town, it is pitch black!

Going up a hill BLING!! A car flies over the crest with full beams on and blinds me!!
My eyes takes a while to re-focus and all I see is kerb and lots of gravel! Sh******t where the *beep* is the road!

I hit the brakes then quickly let go and somehow flung the bike round the corner.
I was a all nerves for the next few mins while I fumbled to try and find the full beam switch.
Took me 2hr 30 mins of vast majority riding in utter darkness.

Seriously not a good experience!!

Riding back from Scotland down the A1 in very very strong side-winds. Don't know how I didn't die that day, I was convinced I was going to get blown into an oncoming HGV. Fell asleep from mental exhaustion when I got home, I couldn't lapse concentration because the wind came in gusts which would catch me and I'd have to correct it immediately or be blown onto the other side of the road (which did still happen a few times).

Contends with the time my back end locked up at 80mph+ on my two-stroke. Doesn't sound scary, but it was very scary.

Driving in the car yesterday (I know, but shhh Wink) on a single carriageway 40mph road through an industrial estate. Sitting at 40 with a cyclist in the oncoming lane, 40 tonne HGV behind.

Lorry slowed slightly, indicated and pulled out into the opposing lane without looking - I was heading towards him at 40mph. Massive braking, horn and a swerve into the kerb followed by the lorry passing me so closely that if my wing mirror had thicker paint on, he'd have hit me, that's how close he was. Didn't even slow down or look bothered.

Turned around and made sure the cyclist was okay but the HGV was long gone. Police won't do anything without a plate number and have told me that unless I find CCTV cameras they won't look. Rolling Eyes

Fucking lorry drivers. Pricks, most of them. Really don't know how I reacted that quickly (as I generally have stupidly slow reactions Laughing) but yeah, the closest I've ever come to dying. Not an experience I'd want to repeat.

That thing Clarkson does on Top Gear when he shouts "POO IS COMING OUT!"?

That was me. Laughing

On CBT on a XL125 about to pass a junction on the left when oncoming car turns infront of me thus allowing a car to quickly join the main road. I somehow zig-zagged through them whilst accelerating and braking at the same time...Total panic mode.

I've had that feeling before, it's a weird feeling of calm acceptance. Only afterwards when you realise how close it was and that you're still alive do you go FUCK!

Haven't really been that scared on a bike, but there were moments that had me seriously worried as followed;

Riding my CB125 back from teffers, have a mini drop when a van stops for no reason on a roundabout (made me learn not to follow van's too closely). Checked the bike over it was fine/ flooded but fine. However go onto the A5 get up to 60mph and the spark plug pops out. Que the bike slowing down and me having to lean the bike at the side of the A5 whilst screwing up a spark plug.

On The CG125 visiting the Raven Bike cafe ended up getting lost making a detour on the way home and made it to Chester. Find the road to get home then make another detour. Stop off at a farmers house and ask for directions (yeah I lose my man card). He tells me the directions and I set off. I end up getting a car follow me almost on my back wheel for a few miles.

On the CG125 again bad headlights cold night, pitch black countryside feeling tired, chain had come off. Yeah that all seems very obvious it was. Riding along with a guy on here who had an SV650. Going through the country lanes can't see a single thing even with my headlight on full. Had to ride past where my dad died in the pitch black as well (falling asleep and extremely cold).

Laying in the road after hitting a car, couldn't move right side, wet warm feeling, blood? (pissed myself I found out later), a blackness closing in, sort of in peripheral vision, far off voices talking about me as if I wasn't there and not being able to answer.
Other one was the only time on the big dipper at Blackpool, seriously.

It's OK, it was Kenickie's mistake.

She told me it would be OK because she was standing up.

On my Girlfriends 18th I went for a walk as I went around the corner noticed a car smoking, I walked past it it exploded messing up all my ribs on right hand side where I twisted to shield myself.

Ambulance suggested I went to hospital
Firefighters said just go back to the party get wasted then go hospital tomorrow (I chose this option)

I was scared as all I saw was white and heat and pain.

On my TS50 in the densest fog I've ever experienced, visibility was a few feet; there's a section of the Wandsworth one way system that's 4 or 5 lanes wide and I'm somewhere in the middle, stopped at a set of lights.

As the lights change, I'm aware that I'm being engulfed by cars, but I can only just make out those immediately either side of me, I can't see the kerbs and I know the road is bearing right.

Totally disorientated, not sure where I am on the road or where anything else is, I can only hear the traffic around me and occasionally make out a vague shape or a dim light.

Felt like riding blindfolded, knowing I was surrounded by moving obstacles, very scary few minutes.

Many years ago driving my mk2 escort back from Chelsea bridge.

I was between j4 and j5 of the m20 and the car had a blowout on the offside rear. It lost grip and started to spin. I somehow caught the oversteer but it gripped up on the near side tyres and threw the car in to a spin the other way.

As it spun it flipped over and rolled three times.

The car ended up in the outside lane against the central reservation facing the wrong way. The time was 00:05 on April fools day.

Now, at this point, although dazed, myself and my two mates were unharmed, no idea how we got away with it but it was the most surreal sensation as it started to spin, I could feel the car starting to go in to the roll and it seemed to take forever to stop. Lots and lots of scraping, crunching, breaking glass and then it landed on all four wheels.

A couple in what I think was a Volkswagen golf or polo stopped and had seen the tyre let to and the whole carnage unfold.

We were standing on the hard shoulder and for some reason the bloke with the Volkswagen told me I should go back to the car and put the hazard warning lights on Shocked .

My brain was no fully in tune with what was happening so I walked across the three lanes to the car and as I got in to the drivers seat I heard my name being screamed and I looked up to see headlights in front of me Shocked .

A Renault 25 hit me almost head on. It swerved at the last minute and took out the drivers side entirely up to the windscreen pillar. It had the entire offside suspension, brakes and wheel embedded in to the front of the Renault.

The steering column of my car was rammed back and the steering wheel, an RS2000 metal three spoke one smashed me in the head and I actually had the most amazing reverse print of ford on my forehead.

I walked, well, kind of staggered and hobbled as the Renault drove over my right foot as it was hanging out of the car, away from that back to the hard shoulder.

I cheated death twice that night. I still remember the police saying that they were certain they were attending a fatality when they were told of the second impact.

I wasn't scared during the first crash but I fully understood what was about to happen in the second one and was fully expecting to die at any second and was very very scared but for the briefest of moments and then utter relief.

Christ, that was my longest ever post I think!!

I went out once on the bike, was fine all day did some good distance, then I started to head home, down a route I always go down, in conditions I've ridden in many times.

I came around a bend and boom it hit me, I am hunched over the tank going "oh God this isn't going to end well, this isn't going to end well at all" what was I going to do, 4 miles from home, out on my own and everything had taken a turn for the worse, the vibrations from the bike was unnerving.

I HAD to poop.

I've never shit myself before, I can't go home and sort it out either, how would I explain to anyone why I reeked of feaces, or having the shame of scooping a brown slurry out of my race suit with cupped hands akin to a Japanese Gokkun girl, scooping a veritable bukkake of shit from my leathers.

I certainly couldn't shit at the side of the road, there was no where to pull up and if I did would another bike stop to check on me? Would he vomit from the smell my anus would be emitting like a fireman hosing a house with chocolate angel delight?

I ploughed on, luckily I had my work keys on me and work was closer than home, it was the only choice.

I finally got to work and off the bike, my arse clenched tight as if I was a duck about to be gang raped by rohypnol swans, I couldn't find the right key, I panicked, I got flustered, I did a brown rain dance to stop the thunder storm of shit about to explode from my arsehole.

I ran in stumbling as I tried to undress, I was at breaking point, my puckered sphincter was losing the battle against the torrent of shit trying to get out like it was being exorcised.

I just made it onto the toilet, as I sat down my ass sneezed, it felt like my ass was the Hoover dam and someone had put a wrecking ball through it from the inside out, a waterfall of turd flowed with a vicious burning, what had I eaten?

You don't know what scared is until you almost shit yourself on the bike.

Out on the ZZR giving it large when I spot a police van parked up on the overpass and slam the brakes when I see a copper aiming a speed gun at me.

Come home from work a week later to find a brown envelope waiting.

Bricks were shat as I convince myself I'm about to be permabanned under the New Drivers Act.

Pour myself a stiff drink, prepare my anus and tear the envelope open... fucking tax reminder for the Varadero Laughing
