Evening all,

hope we're well!

having been bikeless for a while now, i feel like i've done nothing but comment rubbish on the Forum recently!

yesterday the weather picked up in Glasgow, so i decided me and the missus should take the niece and 2 nephews to the Transport Museum in Glasgow, its mainly full of old buses/trams/trains/cars - but they have a small arrangement of bikes in there too, so i thought i'd share some out.

the first is this:

a BSA Bantam D1 - used by the Royal Mail around 1957 to deliver Telegrams. probably made the telegram boys' jobs a whole lot better! Laughing

a triumph tiger (T110 im sure it was)

Laughing

the bicycle above was a Raleigh bike, fitted with a 125 Cymota Power unit - this one in particular was donated by the Chief Constable of the Glasgow Police Force, used in the 50's.

apparently, some chap named Melvyn Hunt (stupid cunt) spent weeks fixing up his thunderbird back in 2007 - first night he rode it he got hit by a car!

i liked this one - a 1929 Douglas special...with no brakes, and no mudguards. i'm yet to research it's owner George Pinkerton, but he bought it when he was 19.

and finally;

https://i1263.photobucket.com/albums/ii639/bravocharlie1/null_zps28ac9f18.jpg

a Ner-A-Car Model A - American brand, but English made in 1922 by Sheffield Simplex. i was lead to believe this had a 221cc two stroke engine, with models being updated to 285cc a year later. such a strange looking bike, but it was one of my favourites there, and i'd love to try ride it Laughing

hope it's not too boring for ya Thumbs Up

George Pinkerton was a pre war Glasgow speedway rider and that's his bike, which he restored, probably about 30 years ago.

His brother Jimmy was more successful and well known as a speedway rider, but George's claim to fame was as a Spitfire pilot, when he shot down the second German aircraft of WWII.

No need to appologise just a shame that they are as im always interested in seeing photos of old bikes. I took quite a few at a museum I found on the Isle of Man where two guys restored all the bikes themselves. There must have been about 40 bikes there amazing stuff.
