This may seem like too small a question for its own thread, but I wanted to ask it!

I have bought some Buffalo pannier bags and they have come with an "anti abrasion blanket", which is just one massive square of strange material. What do I do with this?

Put it between the panniers and your paintwork. I use piece of an anti-slip mat from Lidl.

Oh right! So I just drape it over the back seat so it covers both sides then?

Thanks

Make sure you do! or you will end up with scuffed/dull paintwork for sure.
I know this from bitter personal experience Sad

In between the pannier and the side of the bike is a perfect place for particles and grit to hide and grind away at your paintwork.

Hm, the straps make it impossible to drape over the back seat and cover everything at once. I'll cut it and tape the pieces to the back of the bags and hope that works!
