I recently replaced the head gasket on my Senda. The gasket before was leaking so i had to replace it. I then found out that one of the head tension bolts was not to size, I have re tapped and drilled the hole and filled with a heli coil, all tightened back up with new gaskets on. I have connected the fuel pipes back up to the engine and gone to kick start the bike as it has no electric (2 stroke). The kick wont catch and it makes a scraping sound, the engine feels like it has no pressure in it, could anyone give me any advice on what to do, it would be much appreciated.

Did you have the barrel off as well as the head? If so I think you have mashed the rings.

I have never seen a bike that exposes the rings with the head off.

I could be wrong, but that looks like you've got the barrel off.

This is an example of a head:

This is an example of a barrel:

And this is an example of a 2 stroke with the barrel and head removed:

Are you sure you replaced the right gasket and put the piston back in properly? Replacing a 2t head gasket is probably a 30 min job at most.

I told you that you had the barrel off, you have munched the rings. On some 2T engines there are little luggs to locate the gaps in the rings so that they do not get chewed up in the ports.

Well clearly it's not, otherwise it would kick over.

Whip the head and barrel off again. Make sure everything is free and moving. Check the barrel/piston for any damage and check the rings.

You didn't do something silly like drop something into the crank case did you?

I think I've figured it out, had it all off again today and all looks fine, the water is not pumping through the system for the pressure to build up, and I now can't figure out why the water won't pump through.

The water pump is turned by the crank rotating, connected via a plastic gear. It also has nothing to do with engine compression. As Ariel said, you've probably cocked it up and not located the rings properly. Your rings could also just be incredibly worn.

Does the engine actually turn over when you use the kickstart?
