Sort of bike realted,so bear with me.

Outside of our shop they have recently narrowed the road (against public opinion and protest) and now, due to the narrow road, have painted double yellows as it is now too narrow to park and let someone pass.

On way to my day job, I regularly stop of to see the missus and drop the bike on the yellows whilst I pop in.

Last week (whilst on half term, so no bike), I noticed a local authority parking enforcement officer, parked in his corsa, down the road, taking photos of people parking straddling the double yellows and partly on the new wide pavement.

Due to the fact this road modification was done to further someone's political career and not for the benefit of the commuity and has had a direct impact on our trade, I am rather against any further involvement by the local authority.

SO, as this traffic womble was parked in a space right outside the local kiddies playground, a call went in to 101 to report that a stange man, not known to me is parked by the swings, taking photos.

Result, two police cars within 5 mins and a very stroppy womble trying to explain that he is doing his job and is supposed to be taking photos by the kiddies.

Even if there is no action and he gets an apology from plod, i think that was one phonecall well placed Smile

Funny, not seen him there since.

Mike

So let me get this right. You were about to park on double yellow lines, saw a traffic warden with a camera getting evidence of people doing this, and decided to call the police and suggest he was a paedophile?

As much as I don't like them, It really annoys me when people park on double yellows (and then stick their hazards on) - but that kinda action can get someone into serious trouble.

So next time a real pedophile turns up at the kids park the police will ignore it. Well done.

I'm not entirely sure that is how policing works.

"Hello, I'd like to report a suspicious looking man hanging around a kids playground.".

"Sorry but we had a false alarm there a little while back and as such are no longer visiting that particular park."

You know that he has now more than likely been suspended because he has been accused of taking pictures of kids on the job, probably going to lose his job as well, because someone will decide he needs to go in case anyone heard him talking with the police about the allegation on the street, had his house raided, his computer confiscated and searched and may now be accused of being a paedophile.

Whilst it did make me laugh a little, you've potentially just lost someone their job, you may have also started playing a very dangerous game, there was an old guy in Bristol taking pictures of kids smashing up his garden, he got arrested, his pc confiscated and searched, police found he was telling the truth.....locals of the street beat him up and set him on fire because of the allegation. Unless they are actually fucking kids like Hetzer, don't accuse someone or try to construe your words to make it seem like someone is taking photos of kids.

But imagine, whilst in your foaming mouthed frenzy, the police looked at the images he had taken, whilst on patrol on behalf of the council. Probably there as per the designated list of places he was handed that morning by his employers.........

......and all the images were of vehicles parked on yellow lines.

hang him, the pervert etc etc etc. Rolling Eyes

I have turned down jobs before because I felt they pushed my morals too far.
I'm not sure I could take a job sitting in such a van earning money for the council by 'doing' people for petty traffic offences.

Especially in a case where there was previously parking and the people are making an effort to park safely without causing problems.

Till next week and you get a knock on your door for wasting police time.... Laughing

Still I guess the cost of the 101 call was worth it for you. Not sure on mobile costs (not a included charge). But its 15p from a BT landline Shocked

Very funny, a video would have been even better though!

Could they not trace the call, put two and two together?

Absolute top marks to the man. Councils are as much in the screwing money business as Wonga. They quite arbitarily paint yellow anywhere they can and then hire minimum wagers to enforce their edicts. The bloke is probably better off on the dole, and can probably sleep at night.

Traffic wombles are cunts but accusing him of being a paedo is wrong. End of the day he was only doing his job - if you didn't park like a tard he wouldn't have to ticket you. If you saw somebody parked there in a car you'd think they were a bellend as well.

That shit loses jobs and even if they aren't guilty people just presume they are because they were accused of it.

Yep, guy was trying to earn a living, whether or not that is the job he wanted to do or not. You could have just fucked someone's life up over something very petty and nothing to do with him at all. If he goes elsewhere or loses his job, he has to explain why he lost his job to a new employer.

I wasn't aware you could get a parking ticket by photo only, I thought they still had to plant the ticket on your car.
If so, is this story a complete fabrication?

If you see them writing it and you drive off you still get the ticket even if it doesn't touch the car.

I dont understand why you think its awesome and brilliant to possibly wreck the life of someone who is just doing a job because you disagree with the councils decision for placing double yellow lines on the street.

You're a fucking arsehole.

Wrong. I get the whole 'too thick to really understand' but I still blanket-condemn anyone choosing such a job as being back-stabbing scum.

Yes, it's a cunty job but doing a cunty job doesn't give somebody the right to accuse them of being a child fucker.

That's pushing it a bit far. Way too far actually. There's no way the scumbag with the camera wouldn't have been able to provide his bona fides.

Do you not think the police look after their own? Even the traffic wombles. He could have had loads of up skirt pictures of 12 years olds and nothing would have happened to him.

It'd also be rather difficult to get done for wasting police time, all he has to say is "I woz finking of teh childrenz".

Not really. At the time he genuinely thought it might be a nonce but he dressed the story up for BCF.

I disagree with your actions Dolly3900.....

I might just send a screen shot of your post to your local constabulary along with your name and address.

I wont publish your address here, just your facebook account.

I don't get the job loss thing, because if your job is to be on X road at X time with a camera to take pictures, it should be quite obvious to your bosses and the police that a misunderstanding has occurred, and as it seems to be the case, it did not go any further, with no arrest etc.

BUT, you wasted police time and cried wolf over a serious scenario, so for that you are a dick.
