This is a bike I'm interested in buying, the chap sent me pictures of the mileage display, the engine is off and the display on the rev counter says CHEC.

He says this is normal when the engine is off but the ignition on. Google suggests it comes up when there is a fault and it needs to be put into dealer mode to get the code.

Is it normal, or is it genuinely showing a fault?#

I think it's alright, it says the oil pump/pressure is not alright which is normal when the engine is not running, just like the red LED/Light on the dash before you start the engine.

EDIT: I might be wrong though, there are SRAD's on youtube that doesn't show the Chec at all, before they start it. Thinking

Thats what I just noticed, one I even paused on the side view to make sure it says 'electronic fuel injection' to make sure its not a carb bike that may not have it.

My Suzuki says "Chec" if you turn on the ignition with the killswitch engaged.

if the kill switch is in the off position or the bike is in gear with the side stand down then you will get "CHEC" on the dash

its a suzuki thing and only on injected bikes
