It's not that much more, but if you're ever going to carry a pillion it's worth it.

Third party insurance covers the passengers in a car as a third party so I'm fairly certain it will work the same with pillion. It's worth having if you're going to ever carry a pillion so that in the event of everything going wrong they're insured and can claim.

The easiest way would to ring Bennetts up in the morning and ask for a quote on something with pillion cover, then ask for the quote again without pillion cover. Then you'll have an actual figure of what they want and not a random guess from someone on a forum, yes people can take fair good guesses, but there is no reason why not to get the actual answer from Bennetts as that way you know 100% that the number you have is the right one to be planning and making choices from.

Let me just say it one more time (sorry to keep repeating this, but it's a fact which has really been bought home to me as I had no idea that as the passenger in the car you're entitled to claim as a third party, just like a person in another car is allowed to) but don't not get pillion cover if you plan on ever carrying a pillion. Get a seat hump so you have a way of physically not being able to, as fair enough your mate who has broken down might want a lift, but is it worh the risk of him being injured and not being able to do a thing about it? If being caught without pillion cover wasn't a bother to you then fair enough, but it's for the good of the pillion you have to have it.

From what I've heard they give you a small discount if you say you don't take a pillion (prob 5-10%). I suppose it's worth it if you never take anyone on the back.

They always ask now if you are going to take a pillion on board. So I guess it will make some difference.

the missus insured hers last year without passenger as she was new she didn't think she needed it as she wouldn't be taking anyone on the back. I asked the difference and he said it would be about 20 notes on top of the 205 premium.
