Definetly a geared bike, it gives you more experience if you wish to go on to a bigger bike.

Well to be honest I wouldn't know cos I will never be 16 again.

But it would be a toss up between a 50cc scoot or 50cc Geared.

I do actually really miss my old scooter too, my little MBK Stunt, I did 6500miles on it between January 2001 and August 2001, I bought it from brand new and kept it well, even when I sold it to make way for my ER-5 in the August it still looked brand new!

X447 HNB where are you now!

Plus I would go out and get a decent job and not stack shelves in Bejams! Or now Icelands.

I was so proud when I got my first star! £56 per week, what was I doing.....

I voted for geared clutch btw, start to get the experience young!

Ped Thumbs Up
I miss my Speedfight2 Sad
It helped me gain road confidence, learn all about riding on the road, and everything, with no other hassles, no gearing to work with just go and stop.

yea i'm still riding a 50 now, can't wait till i get a bigger bike tho woo. but i've rode quite a few 50's including a few scoots, but never an automatic, wouldn't mind riding one for the experience though. but gears are defiantly the way to go, ask any scoot rider, they all want gears lol Laughing

i'd have to say yes i would have rather got the geared 50, but i wouldnt have had any more money than i did then

and would still have had a complex about used bikes, so i still wouldnt have been able to afford it

Geared 50cc if I was to be getting one and I was 16. But I used my pushbike to get around places when I was 16, and had great fun on it (and still do) as you can fall off the thing and gernally not hurt yourself, although I've managed to break more bones on my pushbike than I have on bikes or in car, although they were very suprised at Lincoln hospital that my skull wasn't broken. Very Happy ).

The thing is, most of the people voting on this have bike knowledge and stuff and know what would give someone the best start into bikes, but when you're 16 and getting your first bike/ scooter you don't really know what the benefits of each over the other one is, and what the negatives sides. I guess you can learn by experience and use that experience to try to help others not have to learn the lesson the hard way as well.
