Go to all the major scooter manufacturers websites. Read.

Or try www.sc-ooter.com as the majority of people here have never even ridden a ped and won't have a clue.

You don't want a scooter, you want a 50cc motorcycle in my opinion (still technically a moped though).

Get a cheap DT50, TS50, something like that.

But you are the minority. Most people on here will find it hard to restrain themselves from posting a barrage of anti-ped garbage.

Tom doesn't listen to the advice he receives anyway, so I don't suppose it would matter...

The 2 best 50cc scooters are either the Peugeot Speed Fight 2 or the Gilera Runner. Fully de-restricted the Peugeot is the fastest. Oh i forgot to mention the Aprillia SR 50. All three are good little peds. I've ridden the Peugeot and the Aprillia and in my opinion the Peugeot is better. Hope this helps.

Yep. Scooters have a habit of locking the back wheel up whenever I pull the clutch.

As to Tom, think about what you want from it. It you are going to use it as a stepping stone to a larger bike the a scooter is probably not such a good idea. However scooters are cheap and there are loads of them around.

All the best

Keith

lol Very Happy

Scooters are a good cheap way of getting from a-b and can be made fast if you want to spend the cash, Depends where you want to go from there. If you are off on to bikes then maybe start on a cheap geared 50. However a 50cc ped will still get you used to being on the road without the hassle of changing gear every few mph.

Dave

other scooters worth looking at are the Piaggio NRG, or the Yamaha Aerox and the Aprillia Di-tech 50 (which can pull off around 90mpg when restricted)

I'd recommend the Peugot Speedfight 2 and the Piaggio NRG If you want a 'fast' scooter. If you want reliability and not that bothered about looks, get a Honda Cub 50. No where near as good as the 90 but still as fuel effecient.

Yamaha Aerox are excellent peds, good make, parts arent to expensive and one of the quickest peds out. NRG and Speedfight are also good peds though.

Yeah there pretty good my friend had a derestricted Speedfight 2 with a few other mods (drilling holes in air box does not make you go faster, lesson learnt Sad ) anyway it did 60 downhill with the wind behind him.

Wait till your 17 and get a 125 there much more fun sort of safer as you dont get overtaken as much.

I had a Suzuki AP50 for almost 2 years and it was quite pleasent. With hind sight I might say that a geared 50 would be better but I definantly enjoyed my scoot and got me to school across town each day.
btw, note that you don't have to modify a scoot to enjoy it (I didn't even derestrict it and still kept it for almost two years).

i think scooters (the 50cc kind) are dangerous mate, there very small so your evan harder to be seen and you don't have the power to get your self out of trouble, or to stamp your authority on your piece of tarmac, so its likely your see lots of inconsiderate cage drivers sqeazing you to the side of the road so they can over take.

get a 50cc bike....something fairly large with gears, a trials type road bike always seem to be a good bet, or try something along the lines of a yamaha fs1e, RD50, AP50 ect ect

hope that helps in some way bud

Laughing (a joke that will never get old!) Laughing

And as for 50cc's, i'm with craig, you see them going down 60Mph roads at 30 in the gutter with cars, vans, lorries etc barely missing them!

Stick to your mountainbike till your 17 mate (imo)

thanks, what does the CBT consist of?

It's a day long course (about 9am to 3pm) where you start on a playground usually and practice junctions and maneuvers around cones.

There is also some classroom work, you have a chat about safety and road positioning, what to wear on a bike etc.

Then you go out on the road with the instructor behind you, for about 2 hours riding around experiencing traffic lights, STOP junctions etc.

At the end of it all you get a certificate and you can ride a 50cc moped (an RS50 is technically a moped) on the road, at 16, on L-plates.

is that so you can have ur provistional? Confused

No - you get your provisional licence just by filling in a few forms, paying £29 odd and sending them off. You get a licence back after about a week.
