So after passing my A2 test (on a 2 year old ER-6, Jesus fucking Christ what a beauty) I will now be pootling about on my CG until December when my insurance term is up. The reason for waiting is so that I can get my NCD which knocks about £100 off of the insurance for the bike I am planning to acquire next (CB-1 or CB400 Super Four if anyone gives a monkeys arse).

Anyway I have a feeling I did something silly and put my address for insurance down as my halls address, which I no longer live at. If I have done that, will I be forced to ring them up and pay £25 to change my address just so I can get my NCD cert. sent to the right place? Is there any other option?

Sometimes your new insurer can contact the old via the electric telephone to verify your NCD.

BTW - congrats on passing Thumbs Up

Thanks buddy! Is this something I can rely on working? Don't want to end up with an increased premium because I can't prove my no claims in time or something silly... Also, how does this have an effect on future discounts? For instance if I go another year without claiming will my new insurer give me a 2 year certificate or will they just give me 1 and I'm supposed to keep them all forever?

You could ask them to email it to you - I think I have in the past.

Yes, if you do not claim for another year this builds up to two years NCD as it carries over to the new insurer, rather then being separate single year entities from different companies.

Thumbs Up

If your address has changed say, "I've just moved, and so will need anything you've sent, sending again."

But my experience has been, the new insurer just wants to know who insured you last and they can look on the compluters somewhere and see it

Good news everyone! Your Futurama referenced username (great episode) makes this typo seem even more appropriate as something the Professor might create:

Thanks for your advice both, seems sensible. Apparently they have introduced some national no claims database this year so people don't have to keep sending in proof.

Probably for the SINGLE reason that it will save them all money by getting rid of the manual collection process. Well not probably, as if insurance companies would be motivated by anything but profit.
