Gonna try a bit of that wild camping millarky through France, Switzerland, Italy and maybe Belgium, maybe.

Just been looking at da googlemaps, trying to spot good locations and having problems as to what is suitable as I don't really know what I am looking at. First night would probably be around Lille in France but half hour later of zooming in and out I haven't found anywhere suitable, Cept maybe here.
Obviously not where the guy is pissing. Although I'm sure it'll be dry by now.

So what should I look for, or do you tend to ride til you spot the location - it calling you so to speak?

Another question...is it prohibited in certain areas/towns/countries, possibly illegal or heavily emposed penalties if caught?
If so, which ones?

Really haven't a clue, so any info would be cool.

Cheers guys. Thumbs Up

I just rode around until I saw somewhere. Longest it took me was probably an hour, but that was me being extra-picky (don't like getting up early given the choice, so wanted somewhere fairly well hidden).

Being on a trail bike gave me more options, but I think only one place I camped really justified it - near the Nurburgring and in reality I could have just camped in one of the big car parks, I'm sure (that only became apparent the day after, however).

I tried not to be seen, but I'm pretty sure a farmer did come to have a look one night (and then presumably decided I wasn't causing trouble and went away - might have just been some wild Animals, but I hadn't realised I was massively closer to farm houses than I thought.)

Wild camped in Italy with good success. Like G said, you spot places when you're riding, then go and investigate them.

I pitched up just before the light was fading, but I did lie in until about 10am.

In France I found it much more difficult as most of the land was fairly open with little tree cover, but that was in the north.

First night in Spain we may have accidentally went down a real quiet road and woke up surrounded by apple trees and awoken by the sound of some tractor.

No one bothered us though... was right next to a farm/fruit picking place/factory Laughing

Bury your shit or at least shit down a rabbit hole!!

Wild camping on nice beaches is recommended. Arrive in the evening, when the beach is nice and empty so you can park up on the beach and setup camp. Wake up mid morning, crawl out your tent and discover that you're actually in the middle of a well populated tourist beach. Mr. Green

Nah, hover, shit onto a pile of grass and sticks, put loo roll on top of the nutella/peanut butter mix and run.

Go to a tree, dig a bit near the trunk, lean on the trunk like a bear scratching his back and slide down. Enjoy.
