as they clamp down on plates, it seems a bit harder to get hold of a new one, my plate has shite carbon effect lettering, italic letters and is too small and is bound to attract attention

where can i get a plate, ideally i want to have the freedom to choose a size slightly smaller than standard legal, and perhaps with some text across the bottom

anyone know where i can get one of these?

www.malplates.co.uk I've used before with no problems. If you want 100% standard and legal one (with no slogan or anything), Halfords will do them for you. Remember if you're wanting a 100% legal plate printed up you have to have ID and proof of ownershop of the vehicle with you to show the shop, but you can get anything made up as a show plate with no problems.

See, I thought that too. But I went down to halfords last week to get a legal sized plate made up and they never asked me for any form of ID whatsoever. Confused I did have my driving licence and V5 with me just incase though.

Weird. When I had one done at Halfords I had to fill in about 3 forms, give them details to enter into a computer and present my driving licence (inc. paper counterpart) and V5. Confused

yea i had to take id into halfords and my v5. but halfords are very expensive, i'm sure it came to something stupid like £20 or whatever. then when that burnt i went to chells (my local bike dealer) and it was £6 for a perfectly nice legal plate with some heat proof stuff on the back. but i did have to show my id and v5 again

Thats very bad, i cant think why they would do that, as its against the law. Was it a plate that was going to go on your bike, or one for show purposes, ie stick on the wall? The show only purpose plates dont need any ID, but if the maker suspecs that you will use it for a vehicle they can choose not to make it.

Yeah, suppplying the ID is law, and if a company doesn't take the id and take the details they could be in serious trouble as they are breaking the law. People always come into halfords and whine about all the id you have to supply, its so fucking annoying, they cant take no for an answer (when they dont have the right ID).

When they dont have the right stuff, they end up saying stuff like,

"ive got my gym card",
"look its got my name on it"
"look its got my address on it"

Then they go off on one and rant about how crap halfords is, and take it out on me.

*Tony Montana voice* FUCK YOU, COCKEROACHS!!!Evil or Very Mad

Sorry, should be in flame Smile

Slogans aren't illegal as long as they're within a certain size.

Malplates I 100% recommend. They did next day delivery on a show plate for the ts50.

When it got here I couldn't tell it was illegal, looked perfect. Go to their site and select the 9X7 in arial bold i think it was if you can't be arsed with all the ID.

Just pop down to Blackbushe market, there's a guy with a stand there that will print anything, legal/ illegal whatever,.
You just have to sign a waiver explaining that you know this plate MIGHT not be road legal.

It was a plate for my bike and I wasn't trying to hide the fact. It was Paisley Halfords if anyone wishes to grass them Wink
