If those chinqy forks on the XR125 have decent internals and have been fitted properly, then I see that as a reasonably useful upgrade to the std XR. It has always pissed me off that Honda replaced the fairly capable and fairly well built trail bike that was the XLR125, with a bike that has the name designation of a Honda semi competition bike, but has crap styling, poor spec and low ground clearance, and has a 19" front wheel on an XR?

WTF were they thinking? It's like they couldn't decide on if to build a 125cc trail bike or a supermoto, so they said fuck it lets build a useless for both bike and put on a 19" front wheel!

I see your point, the second bike is obviously a better job, but the XR is a pretty naff compromise in std form IMO, and is not worthy in chassis terms of the XR name.

The official Honda version looks quite fun except for that front mudguard. The USD front forks are a nice touch and I could probably enhance my XR400SM with some from a CR250 or something similar.

But I thoroughly enjoy riding the backroads and twisties, especially when the weather is not good enough for one of the bigger bikes.

I always lust over the picture of your supermoto'd XR400.

The factory version is pretty mean looking, I'd buy one.

But, like the OP says, that first picture of the half-hearted attempt at the XR125 looks a bit odd.

I'm not against the idea, just the implementation. Don't understand why you would leave a nobbly tyre on the back, have mixed plastics, a stained seat Very Happy Here's a nice looking XR supermoto to compare it to:

Oh noes... a supermoto might not have traction at the rear?
How will the rider ever cope with that Confused.

Ok, it's probably the only way you've got even a chance of getting that asthmatic lump to slide Smile.
Good grip on the front is where I'd want it.
Plastics and seat don't make you go or stop any faster Smile.
