Hi
I'm looking to move to Birmingham for work, planning on taking my 125 to commute but have no idea of how long said commute will take from different areas. I'm looking in the South and West of the city, Harborne/Edgbaston/Mosely and as far out as Kings Heath.

How long do you reckon it would take to get in to the city centre from these places at rush hour?

Cheers

Moseley/Edgbaston looking around 15-20 minutes depending on exactly which route you take, there are shortcuts that will work for you on some days, not so much on others. Harborne/kings heath might be 20-30 minutes again depending on routes

This a worse case scenario, often times it will be quicker, but it only takes one broken down car on the aston expressway/M6 to tailback right into the city all the way back to edgbaston/harborne. Throw in some timed lights here and there, roadworks, shitty traffic light systems and you'll easily be looking at the longer durations.

Whereever it is you end up, give me a shout and I will divulge my best routes for you.

I live just past Kings Heath in Yardley Wood - I can get from there to City Centre on the bike in about 20 minutes during rush hour.

Well fuck driving in from Kings heath or Mosely, it's bloody Horrible in a car and won't be thrilling on a bike either.

Edgbaston is your closest, but it's either so shit you'd not want to live there or it's gated driveways to huge houses that nobody can afford.

Out of your suggestions I'd only live in Harborne, and Id say you 10mins actual ride from the city centre, but in traffic make it 20min.

That'll be why they pronounce it Edgbaarrstone on the local news then Rolling Eyes

My OH works in Brum Mon-Fri and keeps a rom in a shared house in Selly Park not far from the cricket ground. Awful place.

My advice: live somewhere else.

Depends on the house, mine is pretty nice.

However Selly Oak on the whole is a massive student area, which inherently means overpriced houses with more rooms crammed in to them than should be allowed.
