Thank fuck for that!
Went round those cones like Shakey fucking Byrne, pressing down on my left bar as I did then storming through the speed check before coming to a perfect stop in a 'highly controlled manner'. Very Happy

Highly chuffed as I failed it last time out after not making the speed through the gate but this time there was no messing about - 60Km nailed it!

Hopefully, Mod 2 next Friday. Any advice, boys and girls who've passed?

Congrats Thumbs Up

Advice?

Don't fret it, no seriously, don't.

I was very nervous about my Mod 2 because I knew I only had one shot at it to get a 33bhp licence.

As soon as the helmet's on and you are on the bike you'll naturally just get into the zone of what you always do.. ride. As long as your focusing, indicating, lifesavers, all that good stuff you would normally do.

The hardest part for me was hearing what direction to go in Neutral

Because of this I went off in the wrong direction a couple of times to which I was fucking myself in the head for... but as long as you hold it all together and ride at the standard they need to see you'll be fine!

It's really only an unlucky mistake that can get you failed, you sound pretty confident, good luck Thumbs Up

I found that the whole test was much easier than the car test, with a much more relaxed atmosphere; the examiner isn't looking to catch you out, although stupid things can annoy them, for instance, doing "test speed " think 25ish in a clear strait 30mph road Thumbs Up

going the wrong way is also fine. I went the wrong way because we headed round a road that I go home from the city on, which is right, immediately right, immediate left, then carry on for a mile

I got halfway down the mile bit when I realised the last instruction I had been given was the initial right turn Embarassed

a lot of people think they've failed too when in reality it wasn't a problem; I passed a car near a pedestrian crossing, looked back from my LSer and the light was orange Shocked cruised though it after panic "touching" the brake and letting off. he stopped, I didn't. no problem.

i also think most examiners must really enjoy the office bit after the test when all you want is a yes or no but they spend 5 minutes on "advice" to improve GODDAM TELL ME ALREADY! Evil or Very Mad

Thanks for the helpful answers so far, people.

What I wouldn't mind help with are answers to some very niggling questions that may be so obvious to many:

*Would you be expected to filter in traffic or is it better to sit still and wait?

*On approaches to a roundabout or a junction, which foot down? Is it better to cover the rear brake? Is it even a factor or can you be pulled for it?

*Stopping for people on zebra crossing. - I've read the highway code but is it best to just prepare to stop whenever you come close to one?

I'm between tests too, and have mod 2 booked for mid november.
My understanding is no, don't filter. The test only lasts 40 minutes and being stuck in traffic on the test is good because it 'wastes' time, ie there is very little you can do wrong when going slow or stopped.
At junctions etc always left foot down right foot on rear brake. Try to get in 1st gear before having to put your left foot down.
Zebra crossings it's a judgment call like when pulling out of junctions, eg if you slow down on approach to a zebra crossing in a deserted town centre you would probably get a fault marked by the examiner for that, but if there are people on the pavement likely to want to cross i imagine you would be expected to slow down on approach.

It's better to sit still and wait, then you can't fuck up on anything unnecessary.

I was taught left foot down so you can put into gear and cover the rear brake, I don't think putting the other foot down is a problem though. But just be safe and left foot it Thumbs Up

Yes, be aware in advance for anyone on a zebra, remember to check your mirrors if you slow down for someone Smile

^^ This...and i was taught you put your left foot down as it naturally leans you away from oncoming traffic too Wink

I would like to practise the moving off from behind a parked car manouevre which features on the mod 2 - how close tot he parked car does this need to be done?

I am guessing about a car length as I seem to remember from my car test?

Yes the parked car manoeuvre is roughly a car length behind. They will tell you to shuffle forward a bit. It's an easy manoeuvre though as long as you remember to look right-left-right again before pulling out - can never do too many life savers on these tests.

I failed mod 2 twice for the same stupid reason - I realised I was in the wrong lane at a complicated roundabout system and cut into the 'correct' lane - instant fail! On 3rd test, I again approached in wrong lane (there's a pattern here, right) but just carried on as I was and got off at the 'wrong' exit as the lane markings indicated. Result: a pass with 1 minor for going too fast near a hump bridge.

There's the lesson - don't worry about the directions you've been given and about what lane you're in. Keep going according to the lane markings, don't panic and you will pass!

Good luck!

This is the scenario that my instructor is always banging on about! If you get it wrong and you're in the right hand lane on approach to a roundabout then continue around the roundabout and take the second or third exit. That I shall do if I fuck it up Cool
