Been riding a week, only a few technical issues I can't work out, can you help me find out what I'm doing wrong?

Sometimes as I'm about to pull away from a junction after a stop, I accidentally stall the bike, this is becoming fairly infrequent the more I ride so I'm not too worried about that, but after it cuts out, sometimes I can't restart the bike, there's no power when I press ignition (the lights still work but engine doesn't turn over) I have to do some combination of slipping into neutral, turning the ignition key to off, fiddle with the choke. I always get it to work eventually, although I'm not sure how.

yesterday I got stuck in the middle of the junction in rush hour for what seemed like ages, cars were beeping me and I began to get irate and embarrassed Embarassed in the end I had to push it to the footpath to try to restart it. It took a moment but I got it running.

Does anyone know what the hell I'm doing wrong? Or what's happening when I can't restart the bike? Is it a possibly a false neutral?

It's a cpi suv 125cc 2012 model, 4 stroke, revolving gears.
2nd hand, had it looked at by an experienced mechanic at a reputable garage who said it had a clean bill of health.

I have noticed that I have to play with the choke a bit whenever I start it up, I have to start it then switch the choke to 'on' a second later or it won't idle, but it idles fine after that, though if I turn the choke off at any time the engine struggles to idle without cutting out, the longest I've ridden the bike in one sitting is about an hour and a half so far. And the restart only has issues on end I've stalled, and usually if I put her in neutral the problem sorts itself out, just a couple of times it's not the case.

Perhaps the issue with the idling can be sorted if I play with the idle screw, but the cutting out is beyond me.

I think you just need to give it more revs when you try to pull away, its quite a common problem for new riders, just get it up to around 5-6k revs and then let the clutch out.

As for not being able to restart the bike its probably just a safety feature that wont let you start the bike in gear.

you ve been riding a week?

im guessing you just havent really got used to that bike yet.

most bikes have their own funny little ways and im thinking that you just need time and experience to get used to it.

as someone else said though, more revs when you go to pull away so it doesnt stall.

Not idling with the choke off, turn the idle up a little bit Thumbs Up should fix that no problem. Easiest to do with the bike running so you know what way your adjusting it

And for the not starting thing, are you pulling the clutch in whilst pressing the button ? As most bikes esspecially new ones won't start with the clutch out even in neutral. Also some bikes cannot start in gear either, some may have both features.

Exactly my first thought.

The stalling will likely be not enough revs or releasing the clutch too quick due to unfamiliarity with the bike.

Ok I don't know the bike but....does the starter work in neutral? Does it work if in gear with the clutch level pulled in? You've only ridden it for max 30 mins....it might still be cold if less than 10 mins road riding......failing that maybe idle fuelling issue etc....go try the in neutral and in gear thing and tell us what it does! Nice looking bike by the way kinda retro Chinese copy
