Mmmmmmmm.

That's a handmade aluminium fuel tank for my Shadow, made by the guys at Jedi Racing Cars. Wonder what the welding tolerances are...

It replaces this manky old Fibrelam piece of shit which has been slowly eaten away inside by the increased amount of Ethanol in petrol these days. It also featured a plastic tea strainer (yes, really) to prevent bits getting sucked through the engine. Which was good, cos when I drained the tank it was absolutely full of bits. Of tank.

The only bugger about my shiny new tanks (there's a belly tank as well) is the truly offensive amount of money they cost, cos of all the crash testing and approval gubbins required. But still.... *shiny* Very Happy

I'm sure Mark / warped will be along shortly to comment on the welding and tell you the tolerance just by eye balling it
watched the making of a RR aero engine last night lots of very high tolerance hand welding involved
I really need a project to keep me occupied Thumbs Up

£850 Neutral But of course as soon as you attach the word 'aviation' things get expensive. They've had to meet BCAR crash tests and get BMAA and LAA approval, all of which has to be factored in to the price of something they won't sell many of. If you just want some skilled ally-bashing it shouldn't be as hideous. Thumbs Up

Their attention to detail is pretty damn good - they rang me to ask what colour the aircraft was so the 'Jedi' sticker wouldn't clash. Cool
