So basically, after crashing my FZ6 and me finishing uni soon I'm no longer going to need a bike for the road. I've got a TL1000R I'm slowly rebuilding which I'll probably sell and buy a track bike to replace it which leaves my FZ6 to do something with.

There's no point in me selling the FZ6, it's worth probably £1500 at the most, with 15k miles and a strong engine pushing nearly 100bhp at the wheel it seems silly for me to put it to waste.

The engine is pretty much identical tto the R6, so with a new head and cams I should be able to reach 115 ish hp.

So what to do with it?

Any pre made go kart chassis that take bike engines?

Anything I can put it in that'll be good for the road?

Hillclimb car?

Do eeeet.

https://www.gadgetizer.com/images/kart1.jpg

i've got a CD with plans and Schematics on how to build a Go-Kart from scratch with any engine, steering and suspension set ups etc - i reckon with about £50 of metal, an old welder and a shitbox donor car (for brakes etc) you could probably have one built for a couple of hundred quid.

If you want a copy drop me a PM with your address and i'll post you one Thumbs Up

Why not just use it as a track bike, instead of buying one?

That isn't entirely true. The R6 engine and Fazer engines are totally different, the Fazer engine has far more in common with the Thundercat than the R6.

Not necessarily a bad thing considering how unreliable the R6 engine of that age is

Depends on the Model of FZ6/Fazer. The Thundercat also shat it's second gear for fun.

He has a 2002 fazer, still nothing like the R6 engine.
(unless his sig and picture haven't been updated)

The Thundercat didn't chew it's liners for fun though.

Pretty sure his is a much newer (i.e. 2006?? model).

Regardless of what top end it has (15bhp seems neither here nor there really) I think it would be a waste to put it in a kart, where would you be able to use it?

IMO it would be far better to use it in something road legal so that you can actually have some fun with it.

So has the 03 onwards R6 motor (with head/cam alterations IIRC), which has the revised gearbox. Wink

OL I'll pm you. That sounds perfect!

It's a 2006 FZ6 which is an 03-05 R6 engine detuned. After some research I don't even need a new head, R6 cams drop straight in and give more torque and power. I've got a power commander and quick shifter as well I can put the cams in the bike before I take it all to bits, get it tuned up and it's all ready to go!

Make it a track bike..... There really isn't any point. I've done 5 days on it now and rode the tits off it in Le mans. it's just not designed for that kind of abuse and I've reached the limit on it really. It needs adjustable forks. New suspension. New brakes etc.

It's only cosmetically battered. Mechanically runs like a fucking dream!

If you want a go kart to notfinishandneveruseanywhereevernotevenonce, sell the bike and buy one from some other schmuck who thought it was a good idea.

I was under the impression that while containing a fair percentage of cocoa products in it's manufacture, the T'cats 2nd gear failure was usually a result of gear changing ineptitude and too many one wheeled spirited escapades.

My friend has a CBR600 motor in one of these. There is a hole cut in the floor behind the seats and the motor is mounted in a smartcar rear subframe, which is roughly the correct width. It will wheely, and is technically road legal.

Similar to the R6 (Although I believe Cadbury's supplied parts for both). They don't just shit themselves for no reason. Suspect more R6s have seen more poorly executed mono wheel attempts, hence the higher prevalence.

buy a really cheap 125, shoehorn the engine in, put L plates on it. piss off every Audi and BMW driver by hooning away from the lights, holding it at 55 until they catch up and then give it some further welly! Laughing Laughing Laughing
