Congratulations.
Must be a weight off now you can have same-sex marriages rather than that pesky civil partnerships Wink Very Happy

On topic, yes they can be expensive. Depends on the numbers really. Have you considered a small affair at Gretna?

My 2 year wedding aniversary tomorrow. Which reminds me, I have to get a card.

Benefits of getting married
- You get a ring
- You can say things like "the ball and chain", "the Mrs", "the wife"
- You get a lot of presents (make sure you draw up a request list as a mate of asked for money to be put towards a new bike... almost had it paid off entirely)
- You feel closer to your spouse. (gaaaay!)
- You don't have to try as hard to make a good impression as your locked in.
- You wont die of dissentry as women are a lot cleaner

Negatives
- Your stuck with the same woman until you decide to divorce.
- Divorce will cost you a bomb
- Marriage will cost you a bomb (im still paying it off 2yrs later)
- You will get nagged 10x more as you now belong to her.
- You will get ignored by women in clubs/pubs
(weird but true, if women see a ring they drop the conversation quickly and leave - I was having a conversation in a pub with a pretty girl and as soon as I said I was married she actually stood up and walked away... how rude)
- You can't be a messy untidy fucker anymore... I struggle with this one

All in all though it's been amazing. I have married my best mate. I laugh everyday and couldn't be happier. I'd like to read this back in 10 years time and see if things have changed.

I'm on 8 years now. Still feel the same. She's a PITA sometimes but goddam she's awesome and we have fun together. I don't regret it.

I got married last year.

My advice, marry someone with parents wealthy enough to pay for it.

Then go to Mexico.

Having kids is the only reason to get married these days, as it makes the paperwork easier.

Don't, not even once, refer to the occasion as a funeral. You WILL get in trouble. Aside from that, congrats. Have a great day and try to take some time to enjoy it yourself. Tips? Start thinking about music, speeches and food. Also, the seating plan and table arrangements will take longer than you think, especially if you have anyone in your family that needs to be kept away from someone else (feuding families Evil or Very Mad ) Oh, make sure you find a decent photographer, you'll spend however much ££ on the day and rubbish photos will remind you forever.
