Hi Guys.
I've just bought a great little bike to put on the rack on the back of my campervan. A light weight little adventure bike.
Here she is pretty much all original:

I might drum up some more questions in the near future but for now I'm wondering:
What two stroke oil would be best?
Synthetic or semi?

In the original handbook which was included in the sale it simply says "two stroke oil suitable for air cooled engines."

I'm sure semi would be fine, don't think there was fully synthetic back in 1978 - I got through a few bottles of 2-stroke with my Fizzy around 1986 and I can't remember fully synth being available.

OK thanks.
That makes sense.

I've seen this on eBay. It seems REALLY cheap. So cheap that I'm dubious.

5 litres for £17 with free delivery. It's a mineral oil.

What do you people think?

Can't see the oil spec from the advert but whilst it will probably be more than ok in the KE a known oil may be a better bet but tbh fully synthetic if most likely just overkill on the old KE....find a semi that's easy to find where you are likely to use the bike and use that!

Silkolene Comp2 injector for example or another similar spec semi syth would be just as good. If your after the 4/5litre sizes, I know that Silkolene, Morris, and Rock oil do larger the larger size bottles, but I bet there's loads more. I wouldn't worry if you use semi or fully synthetic, as long as it's an injector suitable oil. They tend to be thinner than pre-mix only oils.

Any main brand mineral or semi should see you right!

I am sure the bike would be ok on that Comma oil, but with such a nice specimen, why penny pinch on oil? It is not like you will be getting through much ...

Rock Oil smells nice Smile
