Following on from an attempted thread hyjacking on the picture round thread, I was wondering two things ;

1) Anyone got a private plate on their bike and if so, what sort of cost?

2) Any funny/appropriate/made me smile ones seen out there?

So far mentioned on the other thread

Abba-Loos (Port-a-loo company)
J8PEE
J8POO

Pimilco Plumbing
A load of appropriate ones (BOG etc.)

The Bed Shop
D1VAN

Recall seeing one years ago on a newly out of the wrapper FZR600 (I think), it was coming out of the RAF station near Bicester F111RAF (it was where the F111 USAF aricraft were housed for a time)

My classic Mini has my numberplate:

D10 OVY

It was about £400, bought for my 18th birthday 6 years ago.

Wouldn't really work on my bike unless it was a one line plate.

I'm considering buying one soon. Laughing found 'R33D GM'

Reed being my first name, and G and M being the initials of my last names.

And it's the in the cheapest range of number latkes available, being £250 direct from DVLA.

Yep, I am a total tart when it comes to private plates. Embarassed

My VS800 Suzuki is **07 YAM as I have been Yambabe on the 'net for many many years now. Plate cost £50 off ebay, the OH bought it for me for my birthday a couple of years ago. Think it was about £35 to transfer it. I get some odd looks when people realise I am riding a Suzuki with a "YAM" plate but it makes me easy to find at meets! Cool

My VS1400 came with a personalised plate Laughing The original reg was MJ05 *** and the previous owner put a little space between the M & J and a screw which looks like a ' between the 0 & 5 so it reads M J0'5 - I'm sure most of you know what my real name is! So no cost for that one..... Thumbs Up

The Zeph and the car both have plates bought for £250 from the DVLA (including VAT & the transfer fee). My business is called JXB Resources (it's a play on my name) so I have M155 JXB on the zeph and M5 JXB on the car. They both (the plates not the vehicles) belong to the company so I was able to claim the VAT back on them as well. Bonus!

Well my BMW's registration is M***JFX so I just changed my name by deed poll to Michael J Fox for £15, why spend so much on a number plate when you can just change your name?

My mate does have one on his bike, which essentially reads Dog fucker as it is K9** FUN Laughing Laughing

My wife bought her last car from a chap who like to be referred to as Mr Dee (too young to remember Diff'rent Strokes) He was also a bit of a cheapskate and had actually bought M12DFE then applied a bit of black insulating tape for extra cool points.

I have a plate on one bike.
Cost me 250 from DVLA
The I have probably paid a few quid more to transfer and to retain between bikes.

It is a fackin pain to keep up with it and I have considered letting it go.

If not taxed you can't assign the plate to the vehicle
You need MOT and Insurance to get taxed.
If you have not SORN-ed or have outstanding tax you must pay the missing tax from last tax until new tax period.

OK on a one off but 'can' be a hassle for the sake of vanity. Embarassed

My plate says:

B1G R 50L

Very Happy

I've got CA13 RAM on my Caterham. Only cost £200 and I've been offered a few quid over that for it already. £120 really because I was going to have to assign a plate to it anyway.

When I were a lad, it was generally regarded that nothing said 'wanker' more clearly than having a personalised plate on a car.

Was frankly amazed the first time I saw one on a bike (DUC888 on a...three guesses Laughing ).

One word - why?

Having said that, if FOS51L was available, I might be tempted to put it on my old fossil Laughing

If it's not anally expensive and not toooooo silly so long as you don't make a 3 look like an E (Aye right..) then it's just a bit of fun.

Mine has become anal as I've changed it to two bikes since buying it. Which cost about 50 quid each time.

I'm still LoL-ing at it though.

That's pure cheese. If there are any drivers you need to be wary of on the road its the private plated type. I think the desire to broadcast some sort of message to other road users represents a certain attitude. It's just an identication method for the sake of distinguishing vehicles why make your reg any more than that? Naff!

Always been called Kit B by everyone.

So got K1T BE

Had it in that style on cars and

On bikes. Never been stopped because of it. Had a few gaffers at work comment on it tho. Police
