Had a look at ROK luggage straps, has anyone used these before ?. My backpack is getting bigger due to having to carry a company jacket - like a hi vis but not hi vis same size and thickness if that makes sense as well as a pair of magnum boots.

I was thinking of opting out and going for the bungie cords but knowing my luck it would come loose and by bag would fly off.

Carrying something on me is my absolute last resort. Tank bag, tail pack, top box, panniers, cargo net, bungees, they all work. You may be over-thinking this.

Bungees & cargo nets work fine.

Not a single item came loose or fell off of my poorly packed bike (apart from the jerry can at over 100mph) Thumbs Up

I use cam buckle straps as a preference, but carry a couple of bungees and a cargo net as well. You know, just in case I need to lash loads of crap onto the bike.
I've looked at rok straps and read nothing but good reviews, however as far as I can see they don't offer me anything that cam buckles can't do, only they're double the price and don't have the load rating.

But in answer to your question, rok straps are okay.

Iain thought it would be fun to make my brake light read "cunt" every time that I turned it on and make my indicators in to arrow Laughing

Probably did 300-400 miles with the "cunt" brake light and the indicator tape is still there Laughing

I have Rok straps and I used them for a year. They work and will hold big loads, but they're a real faff putting them on and off, they just take too long.

Rok straps don't put as much force so are more suitable for not damaging big loads. On the downside they take ages to get on, I often have a kit bag and with a bungee, i hook it over the metal hoop pull over and do so on the other side 5 seconds top. With Rok straps i would say at least 30 seconds.

I've gone back to using bungees, I would use my Rok straps again though.

Rok straps are good if you don't have the metal hoops under the seat as they go over your pillion grab thingies.

Yeah i used two rok straps on my Russia/Mongolia trip, they secured the heavy bag, i really liked them, and the ease with which you can tension them. Thumbs Up

Edit: the black back is held with Rok straps in this pic. Misc things cargo netted on top.

I use a bungee cargo net without any issues, although the ZZR is good in having the luggage hooks.

mainly carry my sandwiches but also spare jacket and laptop, done a sleeping bag and camping rucksack too without issue.

For 'Black-Out Rules' during war-time I think. Razz

OP ROK straps are the best. I have been using four of them for about four years. No deterioration. Have lost some enamel off my front teeth though. Embarassed

I use these ^

Can't rate them highly enough. I always have a couple of spares about the bike for carrying impulse purchases home and I can carry a huge amount of camping gear when I need to.

Secure, easy to use, don't need hook points like bungees and don't mark or rub your paintwork.

Here's a couple in action on an overnighter ride..... Thumbs Up
