Hi guys, me again...

Just a quick question, in my haynes manual it states I should remove the oil pump and the clutch release shaft before I separate the crankcase. Is it really necessary to remove both of these?

Looking at schematics on cmsnl it doesn't look like either component will stop the crankcase coming apart. Is that right?

I know it seems like a stupid question, but the screw holding the clutch release shaft is seized (really, really seized - I've broken 2 screwdrivers so far trying to get it out!), and if I could get away with leaving the oil pump in that would be great as it would be less components for me to keep track of.

If the clutch release shaft needs to come out, any ideas on how to remove the stuck screw?

Cheers

Chris

Also, just assessing options really, but can anyone recommend a competent garage in the Liverpool area that I could pass the engine over to?

I'd like to do it myself, but I have hardly any free time at the moment and this is dragging on and on due to me not really having the time / a clue. I need to get this out of the house asap!

:D do you have a shed???????

pics of your problems so we can help. if the manual says that that stuff has to be removed to split the crank case then thats what you have to do.

link to cmsnl would help us as well as pics.

Nope no shed Sad. Got bits of bike strewn all over my terraced house and it's driving me nuts as the projects been dragging on for ages due to barely any free time (and me not really being tooled up for it!!!)

Made the decision today to give up with the gearbox replacing project and bought a second hand engine off ebay instead. I'll hopefully definitely be able to put an engine in it as I managed to get the old one out! Should be cruising around the streets soon! Smile

Cheers for everyone round here for your help so far!
