Yes it's cold but the upside to starting or finishing work at daft o'clock is you can pretty much ignore speed limits and have a little fun on your commute... I live within spitting distance of Leeds ring road and can hear all kinds of bikes getting hammered at this time of the morning Laughing

I have a naked bike, and start work at daft o'clock when it's coldest. But I don't think we've reached real "cold" yet. Wait a few weeks, when it's -5 or so...

I've turned on the heated grips and wear mittens and a jumper, but I haven't started wearing the base layer yet. Keeping that in reserve.

After about half an hour at motorway speeds this morning I was bloody glad to get back in to town and get stuck at some traffic lights so I could warm my hands on my radiators. First time I have been grateful for the side mounted twin radiators on the VFR. I think I might need some warm furry muff. Neutral

Surprisingly warm up in Scotland. Confused
Not really felt the need for my heated grips this week. I think it's the calm before the storm though Sad

Not that bad out today, a little frosty/chilly to start with but once riding the sun came out and seems quite nice out now.

My RR usually runs at 100+ degrees so gets me warm in no time Thumbs Up

I started using my car for the 200 miles to Oxford and back that I do every week, but I couldn't resist this morning and came in on my bike. It's taken a while to get the feeling back into my fingers: naked bike, no heated grips, muffs or mittens. I had my winter gloves on though.

Edit: awesome filtering when I got near Oxford though Smile

I have this KTM with a pair of Hand-guards fitted as standard, stopped on Dartmoor this morning to rub my hands together for a couple of mins and check out the view - thermometer read minus 2, never had Hand-guards before and I've got to say they are flippen excellent for keeping the wind chill off - all those years of exposed gloves to the wind, why did i do that?- mind you i'm not sure a sports-bike would look right with hand-guards on!

Muffs and summer gloves still appropriate so far, frosty windows all round this morning though.

Muffs are going on this weekend, temperature is just at the point of becoming uncomfortable.

Just using the Hein Gericke Pathan 2 finger gloves.
I'm thinking of heated grips but atm I can't really feel the need.
Hands nice and toasty warm.

I need to dig out the lining for my winter trousers though.

I will be riding an unfaired 500 this winter as a runaround so things are going to be interesting.

Thumbs Up

Bought a non branded pair of winter bike gloves at an auto-jumble last year and they're as warm as toast.
They were as cheap as chips and I wish I`d have got a second pair for when these ones die.
No need for heated grip with them Thumbs Up

As for base layers and liners back into the trousers and jacket : Hell yes, you bet your life they`re going back in !

Winter sock in the boots? dam right!

Bollocks to getting cold, I`ve had my share of that.

Cold? Pah! Try being a refrigeration engineer, I'm cold all year round. Man up, or take the car, your turbo will love it. Wuss.

I stuck some woolly gloves under my summer gloves this morning and stuck a hoodie on under the jacket.

It might be that I'm a dozy teenager and don't feel the cold too much or that 6 and a halfish miles at half eight in the morning isn't all that cold. I do have handguards though.

I am weighing up sticking the winter liner in my jacket next week though and some decent winter gloves from the bike show, my current winter gloves are tatty as anything.

I am also considering maybe getting some heated pads to go under the grips and maybe bodging up an easily removable windscreen that doesn't damage the bike.

Your summer gloves are a size too big or do your hands shrink in the cold?

Probably not me unless I was way off route! Yesterday I was on the A40 from Slough to the A406 to Leytonstone. This morning I was just doing the normal Shepherds Bush to Leytonstone on the A406 again. No where near as cold today though, I was a little too warm actually.
