Couple of questions

the accident I had in my car, do I declare on a bike quote? It asks for "motor accidents" but then when you select the type of accident it says "other bike at fault", doesn't say motor

Would my no claims on my car be used on both car and bike or does it just stay with one? I think I know the answer to this one but just hoping!

You should disclose your accident on both car and bike policy. The fact the question set isn't dynamic enough is actually a bit of a defence (innocent misrepresentation - the question wasn't asked in such a way that was sufficiently clear for you to have known what exactly they were asking for) but you've got to think of it in the way that says do you really want the stress and hassle if you have a loss and you have to go through the FOS, and then potentially onwards to court? Can / does happen. Although frankly a decent solicitors letter in the first instance would likely change their stance, but that's no certainty.

In respect of NCD, it builds up against one policy and can be used on one policy only. That is to say
Buy a car and insure it continuously for 3 years = 3 years NCD
Buy a second car and insure it from scratch = 0 NCD, and 3 years continuing on your first car
Buy a bike from scratch = 0 NCD, even if you've got 3 years NCD on the car (it's sometimes transferrable to bikes, sometimes depending on insurer - but it's in use on the car, so you'd have to not use it on the car policy in order to transfer).

That.

I do like a good rant about insurers as much as the next Hetzer, but I always declare everything, up to and including a no-fault full recovery accident that Mrs Borg was involved in as a named driver on my car policy (yes, even when getting bike insurance).

For the sake of a few pennies or pounds, it could very well save a lot of time and hassle later.

Cool, thanks

Got another one for ya

Our development consists of houses and flats managed by a management company. On the site, off road next to car park, are brick built bike sheds for the flats with a padlocked metal door (you cant see in). If i got a key off the company what would you consider that for insurance... Garage, private property or public parking?

I would call that private parking and possibly secure private parking, but beware mine is in a garage in a block and not within the confines of my property and that also increase the premium.
