After a couple made-up, look like a right arse-on with lights and emulsion and crap.
Does anyone know if i can get one made up somewhere, or maybe just get one cut from thin plasti-card or similar?
Cheers
Gav

This could be very useful! Can you cut plasticard sort of materials?

Provided there's no PVC involved, certainly. I've got a couple of large-ish 80w lasers at my disposal, and a smaller 35w one, which is a bit better at tiny detailed stuff. What sort of sheet sizes are you thinking?

I think A4 would suffice. I'm after my company logo - which hasnt been finalized yet cutting into one and also one with the recycle ( 3 arrows in a triangle ) motif and "we recycle as much outer packaging as possible" underneath it.

Only thing with the plasticard ( or whatever material you cut) is it needs to either be a complete stencil so the insides of letters etc dont fall out, or it would need to put on masking tape or similar straight after cutting so that nothing moves.

Also have to figure out a way to glue it down to a sheet of fabric to use for screen printing.

Then again the £shop usually stock black spray paint Rolling Eyes

On second thought i would prefer to use woven wire for the screen https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Woven-Wire-80-Mesh-30cm-x-30cm-x0-18mm-Filter-Fine-Stainless-Steel-/261141009316?pt=UK_BOI_Medical_Lab_Equipment_Lab_Supplies_ET&hash=item3ccd3793a4

So that is what the stencil would be bonded too ( somehow) I think id probably coat the stencil in contact adhesive or something then press them both together.

Unless your mini laser can create the stencil from half a million 0.15mm holes so that we have a solid sheet that is perforated in the shape of the design?
I guess this would take some setting up and a very long run time?

I know full well that it needs to be a complete stencil; however, unless you decide that you want me to do the design work (which will of course cost a bit more) that remains you issue to sort, I'm afraid.
If you want something a bit more permanent and hardwearing, I can do you a couple of stencils in 3mm acrylic sheet, which should survive a long time, provided you don't play frisbee with them. It wouldn't really be appropriate for screen printing, but would work very well for spraypainting.

If you're dead set on screen printing, I'll try and have a word with the print guy here, see if he's got any recommendations on how to set up a job for that.

Have you tried asking a screen making company?

I know our screens division have supplied one offs before and they weren't overly expensive, less than £100, and thats for a 1 micron accuracy emulsion 20" screen. They should also last over 15000 cycles printing by hand.

Could you cut the design out of a lot of 0.15mm (ish) holes??
This would make a very good screen print stencil.

If not ill get some designs finalized and ill spray paint them - this seems a quicker easier way of doing it anyway.
