Hi guys, been getting a Fault Code 19 (definitely correct code) recently when trying to start the bike, sometimes will start after a while of switching off and on the ignition.

I understand this code is most commonly a faulty connection between the ignition switch and the ECU (as this is a separate circuit to the actual function of the ignition), but could also be caused by a fault in the sidestand switch.

I have a key switch wired up to the sidestand switch (with a bike tracker on the same switch) as an extra immobiliser (so that the engine will cut when it is put in gear); so I will check all the connections on that tomorrow.

If that does not solve the problem, where can I start to go about finding the issue? I've seen it recommended to start at the ignition switch itself, but would like some advice on this one. I understand I'm looking for a black and white wire according to the good old haynes.

Hi, after some fiddling with components, I sourced the issue to the ignition barrel itself. I was dreading replacing it or just getting it off, but I had a very useful suggestion from my ever brilliant dad.

SWITCH CLEANER INTO THE BARREL. Literally took some switch cleaner into the bottom of the ingition barrel and a little time, and problem is resolved.

I assume that some condensation or dirt has probbably collected by the contacts, so if anyone ever has this issue, try squirting some switch cleaner in there, works a charm!
